FWIW, I know that David Coons has seen the page, and has no objections to it. (Well, he's not thrilled with the photo, but we'll get a better one up soon.) It would help me if I knew what in the article is "potentially libelous," or controversial, or whatever, so I can get that squared away. Scooge (talk) 19:25, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm concerned that someone has added the name "Lenny Shaw" to the list of people whom David Coons met at Samohi. Extensive scouring of Santa Monica HIgh's records have shown no one of that name from the era we're speaking of, and I can find no mention of any illustrious person by that name.

There is also an unfortunate proclivity by one of the editors to change the spellings in this article to Commonwealth spellings. Please note that such matters of style are set by the original author, who used American spellings.Scooge (talk) 04:20, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Tone of article

[edit]

It has a genial, tongue-in-cheek quality more suitable for a company newsletter. A facts-only stub here would probably be more appropriate. BruceSwanson (talk) 23:09, 3 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This should be deleted

[edit]

it looks like some guy copied his LinkedIn profile to Wikipedia. This absolutely should be deleted as not noteworthy at all Holydiver82 (talk) 05:34, 25 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The sources given seem fine enough, it just needs a rewrite. Harryhenry1 (talk) 07:16, 25 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
the entire biography has no sources. Lol. Just Comical. Clearly you did not actually look at the article. Again not only is it not sourced at all, but it is not noteworthy. Some guy put his LinkedIn profile on Wikipedia. That's not how wiki works. Holydiver82 (talk) 16:47, 25 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've seen the article too, I was referring to the other sections. Again it seems salvageable, it just needs to be cleaned up. Harryhenry1 (talk) 02:19, 26 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Explain to me what is noteworthy about this person and why they should have a page on Wikipedia Holydiver82 (talk) 03:14, 26 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ignoring the quality of the article for a moment, I know Dave and can't imagine him starting this page. He has lots of better things to do. It's possible but I seriously doubt it. He doesn't even advertise his business. FWIW.
As for whether he is notable enough, he was awarded a Scientific and Engineering Award by AMPAS. That should be significant enough for WP:ANYBIO, I believe. And he pretty much invented giclées so, yeah, the article needs some significant repair but it shouldn't be removed, IMO. Hondo77 (talk) 21:40, 26 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
the fact that the article is of such poor quality would be a major reason it should be deleted. for instance, the bio was completed unsourced. in the next section it has things like "the most knowledgeable person about scanning on this planet." which is sourced by, his own personal business website. does not seem like a reliable or unbias source. again the entire article reads like a resume/website about me section/linkedin profile. whether or not he made it, it was made as a joke, etc, it does not meet the standards of wikipedia. Holydiver82 (talk) 16:23, 27 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
An article isn't deleted just because it's bad, that's why we can edit pages to fix and improve them. Harryhenry1 (talk) 03:07, 29 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Articles whose subjects fail to meet the relevant notability guideline (WP:N, WP:GNG, WP:BIO, WP:MUSIC, WP:CORP, and so forth) Holydiver82 (talk) 03:59, 29 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Is the AMPAS award that Hondo77 mentioned not notable enough? In any case, I decided to clean up more of the article. Harryhenry1 (talk) 02:56, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
