Adding on to the page
[edit]Part of an edit requested by an editor with a conflict of interest has been implemented. Additional information requested; see below. |
Hello fellow friends! I just have some edits concerning Dr. David Charles wikipedia page, and would love your help since I am a conflict of interest.
- What I think should be changed (include citations): In Professional Activities subheader quote "From 1997 to 1998, he was a Health Policy Fellow in the United States Senate on the staff of the Labor Subcommittee for Public Health and Safety" needs to have a period at the end.
- Done I added a reference for this as well. SpencerT•C 00:48, 4 December 2021 (UTC)
It should be stated in his professional activities that he is also a chairman of Arena Therapeutics, Minneapolis MN, 1/2017 – Present. "Dr. Charles is the company's principal founder" [1].
- Question: Do you have a reference for this that is not affiliated with the company? The question also arises is whether such a company is notable for mention in the article, and having independent, secondary sources helps back this up. See WP:ORGCRIT for some examples. SpencerT•C 00:48, 4 December 2021 (UTC)
Another paragraph with the subheader titled Educational Programs should be added under the Alliance for patient access. It should state that David Charles is the current director for Focus on Common Movement Disorders, the Junior Faculty Forum, and Focus on Neuromodulation, and previously had another educational program Subspecialty Clinics in Neurology from 1999-2010. "Dr. Charles and Kelly Harper lead three educational programs that draw participants from across North America including Focus on Common Movement Disorders, the Junior Faculty Forum, and Focus on Neuromodulation" [2].
- Not done This information is not given in the ref you provided. SpencerT•C 00:48, 4 December 2021 (UTC)
Under the research subheader, another statement on what research he is presently involved with should be noted. Besides research on Deep Brain Stimulation for Movement Disorders, he is working on research with Telehealth for movement disorders, [3], [4] Prevalence of Spasticity in Veterans and Nursing Home Residents, [5], [6] Treatment of Spasticity for People with Intellectual Disabilities, [7] and Botulinum Toxin Therapy for Focal Dystonia and Spasticity. [8]
- Question: I agree that having more information about the subject's research would improve the article. However, on Wikipedia, primary sources should be avoided, such as the subject's original research articles. Is there a secondary source, such as a news or magazine article, that describes Charles' research that we could use as a reference?
ALso, for the first edits that come to mind, a picture should be added for him. I do not know how I go about this, but references for pictures of David Charles are as follows. [9], [10]
- Not done These images appeared to be copyrighted by Vanderbilt. Wikipedia only permits freely licensed images, please see Wikipedia:Image use policy and Wikipedia:Uploading images. SpencerT•C 00:33, 4 December 2021 (UTC)
- Why it should be changed: It should be changed because this will make the page more up to date with the current activities that David Charles participates in. Thank you so much!
