Kiesling
[edit]"Davit Bek and his allies destroyed the Turkic villages of Kapan and Meghri districts, slaughtering the Muslim population and loading the plunder on camels."
Kiesling, Brady. Rediscovering Armenia: An Archaelogical/Touristic Gazetteer and Map Set for the Historical Monuments of Armenia. Yerevan/Washington DC: June 2000, p. 101 Parishan 08:46, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
- Parishan can you please show me where it says that the Azeri population was almost completely slaughtered --VartanM 06:34, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
- The phrase 'almost complete' was not added by me; it's been there all along. So please, hold your horses as far as the 'weasel words' accusation.
- In the article, the author interchangeably uses the terms 'Azeri' and 'Turkic'. Parishan 07:19, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry I should of checked. #2 is still original research. VartanM 07:30, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
Parishan, the source says Muslim population, not Turkic Muslim population, your interpretation that they were in fact of Turkic origin is Original research. VartanM 07:54, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
Parishan, please stop the edit warring, the source doesn't say Turkic Muslims. its your interpretation that they were and its called WP:OR VartanM 06:49, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
- "destroyed the Turkic villages of Kapan and Meghri districts, slaughtering the Muslim population" (source) vs. "the slaughter and expulsion of Muslims from the Turkic villages of the Kapan and Meghri districts." (my version). Please tell me where exactly you see "original research" and "alteration". Parishan 07:49, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
- Are you sure that you want to compromise and leave the part that the villages were destroyed? ;) Anyway if this will stop the revert war I'll compromise VartanM 08:02, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
- If you insist, that part will be added into the compromise version. :) Parishan 08:11, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
- I thought you were compromising? its in the source, if you want you can added I have no objections to properly sourced material. VartanM 08:14, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
- He must of been pretty mighty to have destroyed all those villages all by himself. :) VartanM 08:19, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
Rebelion against Iran
[edit]Guys let's see it this way. I do not know what kiesling says. But it is certainly true that david bek fought against the Iranian rule in Zangaezur. As Iran was associated with the Shia Muslim Turkic people in Zangezur it is very probable that this population was targetted. It is very opportunistic to claim to fight Safavid rule, when the Safavid Iran was invaded by Afghans and Ottoman Turks. This sheds some line in whose camp he initally fought. Shia Musliems were an enemy of the Ottomans (and Afghans) and traditionally favored by the Safavids. No offense intended though. I know David bek is a national hero in Armenia, no offense but these facts are facts. History is history. Just be sincere about it and let it be as it is --Babakexorramdin (talk) 22:38, 4 January 2009 (UTC)

David Bek → Davit Bek – "Davit Bek" has been used more since at least the mid-1980s. Երևանցի talk 21:43, 5 December 2013 (UTC)
"Davit Bek" is used by almost all authoritative sources:[1]
- Rouben Paul Adalian (2010)
- Razmik Panossian (2006)
- Agop Jack Hacikyan (2005)
- Simon Payaslian (2007)
--Երևանցի talk 21:43, 5 December 2013 (UTC)
- Comment - the proposed target currently redirects to a different article, David Bek, Armenia. Probably not a massive issue though, as it seems like the person is the primary topic for both the D and T forms, with the place name being secondary on both. — Amakuru (talk) 14:17, 13 December 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, the village was named after him. --Երևանցի talk 14:38, 13 December 2013 (UTC)
