COI Tag
[edit]The article reads like a resume and thus fails to adhere to Wikipedia's WP:NPOV standards. The great majority of the article has been written by a single registered user and several Southern California IP addresses. These are single purpose accounts that have not edited any other articles, including,
- 54% by ScienceChick, roughly 80% of whose contributions to Wikipedia are on the subject of Agus' company Navigenics
- All but about 5% of the rest of the article contributed by Southern California IP address editors whose only contributions are to this article.
Please do not remove the tags until this issue is settled. Formerly 98 (talk) 01:43, 8 August 2014 (UTC)
- This now-blocked non IP 45.56.148.172 unilaterally and without explanation removed the two tags on 22:18, 25 May 2015. Before reading the post above, I independently added the "like resume" tag and will monitor it. I'll see if the percentages of apparently COI contributions has changed since August 2014.--Tenebrae (talk) 16:42, 4 September 2019 (UTC)

Requesting a few small factual updates
[edit]This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
Hi, I'm here from the Ellison Institute to ask if Wikipedia editors could make some simple updates to the Dr. Agus Wikipedia article. Since I have a financial conflict of interest I am using the edit request and not editing the page. Reading the past conversations here, I understand that the COI rules have been broken on this page before and I think it may have been someone hired by the Institute in the past, prior to me joining the organization. Please know that I intend to follow the rules and hope editors will let me know if I'm doing something wrong.
I have three updates to request for the Wikipedia article:
- Can editors update the Lawrence J. Ellison Institute for Transformative Medicine name to remove "of USC" or "USC's"? We dropped "of USC" in our name and are no longer directly affiliated. This was not formally announced, but is reflected on our website and social channels.
- Is it possible to add a mention of Dr. Agus and the Ellison Institute's work as part of the Global Health Security Consortium.
- Finally, can editors please add a mention of Dr. Agus' upcoming TV show, "The Check Up" which is airing starting next week?
Here are some drafted updates and references that editors may use to help with the above:
- For the USC request:
- Before: the Founding Director and CEO of USC’s Lawrence J. Ellison Institute for Transformative Medicine.[1]
- After: the Founding Director and CEO of Lawrence J. Ellison Institute for Transformative Medicine.[2]
- Before: Agus has had a long and varied career. At the Lawrence J. Ellison Institute for Transformative Medicine of USC
- After: Agus has had a long and varied career. At the Lawrence J. Ellison Institute for Transformative Medicine
- For the Global Health Security Consortium:
- New to add to Career: In 2021, Agus and the Ellison Institute launched Global Health Security Consortium, a joint global effort with the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change and Sir John Bell and a team of scientists at the University of Oxford, focused on finding ways to track and treat COVID-19 and prevent future pandemics.[3][4]
- For the TV show:
- New to add to Career: Agus hosted a Paramount+ television show titled The Check Up with Dr. David Agus, which was broadcast starting in December 2022. In the show, Agus discussed different medical issues with celebrity guests who have experience with those health concerns.[5]
Thank you, Anna from Ellison Institute (talk) 16:47, 1 December 2022 (UTC)
- I have made these requested edits, some of which are factual information/corrections but some of which are more borderline for appropriate inclusion in the article. Interested editors are encouraged to review the article and discuss whether the COI maintenance banner should be added to the top of the article. I won’t add it myself, but others such as @Formerly 98 have made a strong case that the article falls into that category. I agree it is worth review on this issue. - Thank you for the edits and this note, User:Go4thProsper. I just realized I missed a "the" in the sentence re: Global Health Security Consortium. It should read: In 2021, Agus and the Ellison Institute launched the Global Health Security Consortium. Would you mind fixing that? I'm assuming it's best for me to not edit even if it's something this minor. If I can be of any help to editors as they review the article and clean it up, please let me know. If it's useful, I may be able to help with references or confirming details. Anna from Ellison Institute (talk) 05:28, 4 January 2023 (UTC)
