removal of the Cheep Boots 'Baby Do I Need You' single from the DDDBM&T Discography

[edit]

Can someone please kindly remove the Cheep Boots 'Baby Do I Need You' single from the DDDBM&T Discography.

The following information is reported on page 10 of the zine Zabadak #25 (also Zabadak #5 p.13) where for 'Baby Do I Need You' it is correctly stated:

Yet another Dave Dee related single 'Baby Do I Need You' was released on 12th June 1970 under the name Cheep Boots (2 girls, 2 guys)...a group that consisted of Peter Mason, Johnny Wheeler (from the duo Shirley & Johnny who released 13 singles see www.shirleyandjohnny.co.uk/), Maggie Steader & Joe Brown's wife Vicki (she died of cancer in 1991). Both sides 'Baby Do I Need You' / 'Come And Stay With Me' (Fontana 6007 020) were written by Dave Dee & Peter Mason.

There is or was very clearly no DBM&T involvement here & Dave Dee's involvement on 'Baby Do I Need You' is as co-writer, producer & doing the high harmonies. Zabadak2803 (talk) 11:37, 5 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I have removed it. DPUH (talk) 16:46, 5 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
gee that was quick...very impressive & many thanks cheers Zabadak2803 (talk) 18:21, 5 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

addition/insertion of two singles into the DDDBM&T singles discography

[edit]

Can someone (perhaps again DPUH?) please kindly insert/add into the DDDBM&T singles discography after "Bend It!" itself the following USA only single release…"Bend It!" (new/different version after record ban) b/w "She's So Good"…this different version of "Bend It!" was also available on the USA only 1967 "Greatest Hits" LP release

Also to please kindly insert an Italian only DDDBM&T single release…"Zabadak" (Italian version) b/w "Follemente Vivo" ("Save Me" sung in Italian)…this was a single only release in Italy (please to insert/add into a row after the "Zabadak" single release) Zabadak2803 (talk) 13:05, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again, I have added a footnote for the "Bend It!" re-recording so as to not clog up the table too much, as both versions were released in the US. Likewise, "Zabadak" isn't particularly notable enough for its own line; however, I have added information about the Italian version on the "Zabadak" page. DPUH (talk) 15:40, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm afraid/sorry DPUH that I don't agree with either of this….please let me explain.
The DDDBM&T table is already very very small compared to other acts & so it is not exactly clogging the table up to add two new rows/lines.
Bend It! (second version) then firstly having its own unique row/line then it becomes very clear that the USA chart position is 110 for or against this 2nd release/version & not the other first version plus it shows the correct album that it was on the 1967 USA Greatest Hits.
'If Music Be The Food Of Love' was never released into the USA & that this second version was never on it and so it is actually incorrect to show this LP with respect to the USA chart entry position 110 & wiki always strives for correctness & the truth. Also this "second version" is "hugely important" in the sense & context that an act had to re-record a song because it was banned. I don't recall that The Beatles, Stones, Who, Kinks for example had to suffer this ignominy & to re-record any of their single releases. DDDBM&T were forced to change the lyrics & therefore had to also re-do the backing…all of this had to be done very quickly. The second version is not as good as the 1st & lacks the punch, sparkle & the edge of it. Taking everything into consideration then there should be a row/line uniquely for this release & for its important place in 60s pop culture (even if a rather negative one).
Concerning 'Zabadak (Italian)'/'Follemente Vivo' then for DDDBM&T fans then this is an extremely important release for them & they are very proud of this unique release into Italy (once again all the effort & time to record everything) & that there should be a row/line uniquely for this. Also for example in the Petula Clark complete singles discography on Wikipedia then her French versions are included i.e. between "Who Am I" & "Colour My World" is "Si Tu Prenais Le Temps"….
"Who Am I" b/w "Love Is a Long Journey"
"Si Tu Prenais Le Temps" b/w "L'amour Avec Un Grand "A""
"Colour My World" b/w UK B "I'm Begging You" US B: "Take Me Home Again"
Fully agree that what was done for Petula Clark in her discography here was correct & so would like please to see the similar happen for the small DDDBM&T discography.
Therefore I would hope please that you can kindly please re-consider this & to add these new lines/rows in as they definitely should be added. Zabadak2803 (talk) 09:34, 9 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You make valid points on both, so I have added rows in for them. DPUH (talk) 19:27, 9 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Many thanks DPUH that you kindly reconsidered this…this is very much appreciated…cheers Zabadak2803 (talk) 08:30, 10 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

DDDBM&T album chart positions

[edit]

Can someone (perhaps once again DPUH?) please kindly (a) correct an album chart position & (b) add an album chart position.

(a) The UK highest chart position for DDDBM&T's 'If Music Be The Food Of Love" LP was not 37 but is 27. It's chart life in the Album chart went position 39, 29, 27, 27, 32. For over 50 years it was always reported everywhere (Guinness Chart books etc) that it had reached #27 with 5wks on the UK Top 40 (according to the Record Retailer Charts positions 39, 29, 27, 27, 32) but now according to the online charts from "Official Charts" it only reached #37 for 1 week. This has now been confirmed by Guinness that the online "Official Charts" have made a mistake & that the reason is understood (that there was an unfortunate mix up with the 'New Lee Dorsey' LP). It is always best to source the original physical copies for information as in the course of information transfer/exchange that errors are unfortunately made in the digital world. Please check Guinness British Hit Albums i.e. 6th Edition ISBN 0-85112-725-5 if you wish to double check.

(b) The 'If No One Sang' LP made highest position 10 in Germany & was in those charts for 15 weeks.

Many thanks Zabadak2803 (talk) 11:00, 10 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps kindly to put please a hold on inserting the German chart position #10 for 'If No One Sang' for the moment. I just checked an online site & was shocked to find that it said highest position was #30 with 4 weeks on chart.
https://www.chartsurfer.de/artist/dave-dee-dozy-beaky-mick-tich/dave-dee-dozy-beaky-mick-tich-if-no-one-sang-album_ffrcer.html
My data was obtained from the 1999 4CD DDDBM&T 'Box Set' booklet where it was stated #10 15 weeks (the other 2 albums German positions were correct in booklet (as also according to wiki) of each or both having reached highest position #4. I need please to investigate this further. Zabadak2803 (talk) 11:44, 11 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Good spot! I have corrected the chart position for IMBTFOL with a link to that week's release of Record Mirror which shows the correct position in the chart. As for the German chart position, I have relooked at the source already on the page and it looks like I originally missed off this chart position of #30, so it has also been added. Perhaps the position given in the box set booklet is a typo? DPUH (talk) 10:49, 14 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Gee that’s really excellent news DPUH…thanks so very much…yes after having also double checked then #30 unfortunately seems the correct position for the ‘INOS’ German position…well done…I’ll probably send details of the inclusion of another single tomorrow. Digressing but it's such a disappointment as to what happened to the superb 'If No One Sang' LP in the UK charts! They had just had a #1 record with 'Legend Of Xanadu' there & were totally dismayed to see that their album never even made the UK Top 50…sort of hoping that it would also do much the same as 'LOX' & go also to #1. Zabadak2803 (talk) 14:06, 14 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That’s really great DPHU that you spotted that ‘If No One Sang’ can be now considered as going to position #45 in the UK. Fabulous & very much appreciated…just seen it now. Another point (just noticed now when looking) is that the ‘IMBTFOL’ LP came out actually on 16th December 1966 (as reported by the Zabadak magazine) rather than 10th November 1966 (as reported on wiki) & because of its delayed release date then unfortunately missed out on the hugely important UK Xmas market & therefore Xmas gifts for the young teenagers. Now this delayed date makes sense because ‘IMBTFOL’ only enters the UK album charts on 7th January 1967. The problem is that the album was possibly delayed because of the finalising of the LP cover sleeve! It seems like that it was initially going to be a gatefold sleeve (which makes sense when you see the final LP cover sleeve with 3 members on the front & 2 on the back) but then that “quickly” got or had to be changed…but unfortunately not quite quick enough. Some might say that it was purposely done in order to miss the Xmas market but don't believe that that makes much sense. Zabadak2803 (talk) 08:21, 15 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That's makes sense, not sure where the original date came from. I have changed the date. DPUH (talk) 14:31, 21 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Addition/Insertion of DDDBM&T single "La Leyenda De Xanadu (Legend Of Xanadu) Live"

[edit]

Addition/Insertion kindly please DPUH of another DDDBM&T single. This is the single "La Leyenda De Xanadu (Legend Of Xanadu) Live" b/w "What'd I Say (Live)"

Released only in Spain on a 7” by Discos Victoria – VIC-69 during March 1983 & should please be placed between "Do Wah Diddy" & "Staying With It" in the singles discography….should be mentioned in the album column "Heroes & Villains Live Album (Various)". This was recorded live at Hammersmith Odeon, 21st. September, 1982. "What'd I Say" was written by R. Charles & DBM&T did/provided the solid rock backing for this & Dave Dee was joined on vocals by various artists throughout the number. https://www.discogs.com/release/5275996-Dave-Dee-Dozy-Beaky-MIck-Tick-La-Leyenda-De-Xanadu Zabadak2803 (talk) 10:16, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Addition/Insertion of important DDDBM&T compilation album ‘The Complete French EP’s & Singles Collection’

[edit]

Addition/Insertion kindly please someone (perhaps DPHU) of a recent & important DDDBM&T compilation album. In September 2023 Magic Records of France have released DDDBM&T’s ‘The Complete French EP’s & Singles Collection’.

This CD release is very interesting especially to see 'Babeigh' & 'She's My Lady' on it. Pity it is also not available on a vinyl LP ('Babeigh' & 'She's My Lady' have never been released on any LP). In any case a fine & more unusual variety & selection of tracks here. This release may have been motivated by the use of 'Bend It' in the Aramis publicity campaign which had often recently been utilized on French TV. This is the track listing. 01. 'Hideaway' / 02. 'You Make It Move' / 03. 'Hold Tight' / 04. 'Here’s A Heart' / 05. 'Bend It' / 06. 'Hard To Love You' / 07. 'Frustration' / 08. 'After Tonight' / 09. 'Save Me' / 10. 'Shame' / 11. 'Hands Off' / 12. 'All I Want' / 13. 'Touch Me Touch Me' / 14. 'Marina' / 15. 'Bang' / 16. 'I’m On The Up' / 17. 'Zabadak!' / 18. 'The Sun Goes Down' / 19. 'The Legend Of Xanadu' / 20. 'Please' / 21. 'The Wreck Of The Antoinette' / 22. 'Still Life' / 23. 'Don Juan' / 24. 'Margareta Lidman' / 25. 'Snake In The Grass' / 26. 'Bora Bora' / 27. 'She’s My Lady' / 28. 'Babeigh' / Bonus Track: 29. 'Okay!' https://www.magic-records.com/dave-dee-dozy-beaky-mick-tich-the-complete-french-ep-singles-collection-c2x40053049 Zabadak2803 (talk) 09:22, 20 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Done, DPUH (talk) 14:33, 21 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Excellent DPHU…many thanks for all 3 points (a) correct date, (b) insertion Spanish single & (c) addition of Magic compilation...you certainly have been very busy...cheers Zabadak2803 (talk) 16:14, 21 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Addition/Insertion of the DDDBM&T single "I'll Love You"

[edit]

Addition/Insertion kindly please (perhaps again DPHU) of another DDDBM&T single

This is the single "I'll Love You" b/w of "4 Coca Cola jingles performed by DDDBM&T, Ray Charles, Petula Clark, The Supremes".

This was released "only in Germany" during January 1968 & should therefore please be placed between 'Zabadak' & 'Legend Of Xanadu'…It was for sale through/via the Coca Cola company. Should be mentioned in the album column "non-album single".

This is a delightful artifact/piece of 60s pop culture & in the former West Germany it is generally agreed that it was the most successful single of the band there & it was estimated that it shifted over 500,000 copies (even more than their biggest hit 'Bend It' which was circa 400,000) (West Germany's population at the time was 60 million). It cost half the price of an ordinary new single & music lovers read about the release in Bravo & other magazines. There was an advert filling one page saying that the record could be ordered and sent by post. This was the DDDBMT sound that many German fans loved & a return to their beat sound of 1966. It was not sold in record stores & therefore not eligible for the hit parade charts (also because it was half price). Executives from the USA HQ of Coca-Cola apparently flew over to Germany to organise & produce the disc & a certain "Mano" wrote it. It eventually came out as a "bonus track" in 2004 on the Repertoire CD 'If No One Sang'. It is also actually really fine to hear the 4 Coca-Cola jingles & even concerning the actual DDDBM&T coca cola jingle then one recent female lead singer of a current serious indie dream pop group really liked this. I believe that Quentin Tarantino has a copy of this disc. I have just now played it & it really delightfully captures nicely the spirit of those days. Fine to hear also the jingles by Petula Clark, The Supremes & Ray Charles. It has a nice pic sleeve cover. You can find details on Discogs. https://www.discogs.com/release/1210242-Dave-Dee-Dozy-Beaky-Mick-Tich-Ill-Love-You As you can see there are many stamper variations & my actual copy stamper number is different to any of those that are presented maybe lending some weight that it sold many copies. I also heard a rumour that it was made available/sold at Autobahn petrol/service stations in West Germany but have not been able to confirm this. Zabadak2803 (talk) 16:30, 21 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

That's really interesting information. However, "I'll Love You" is an EP and I decided against adding every EP released as there are over 25 for DDDBMT. Instead I filtered it to the ones released in the UK. DPUH (talk) 21:34, 25 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately, DPUH don't agree with this & as have already presented an excellent watertight argument to include this as a single in the DDDBM&T discography then can't say or add much more except… Firstly, it should "not be" please included as an EP but as a single…just to make it clear. Secondly, Zabadak Magazine (DDDBM&T Appreciation Society), BR Music (please check out the booklet enclosed with the 'Complete Collection'), Record Collector, USA Goldmine Magazine Issue 215 page 14 where all agree that it is part of the DDDBM&T singles discography.
If it helps Wikipedia to present more conveniently as a single, then most have simply stated 'I'll Love You' b/w 'Coca Cola Jingle'. This is an essential part of any DDDBM&T Discography & if it is missing then the Discography is incorrect. As stated in my previous reply then it is also totally unimaginable that such an important equivalent release for the Beatles would be ignored on Wikipedia like this & so ask please to kindly re-consider to include this. Many thanks in anticipation. Zabadak2803 (talk) 11:10, 26 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies, I was too hasty in my original response. I've had another look and I have added it. DPUH (talk) 15:39, 28 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Addition/Insertion of 4 important DDDBM&T compilation albums

[edit]

Addition/Insertion kindly please someone (perhaps DPHU) of 4 important DDDBM&T compilation albums. Each contained tracks that were for the very first time available on any album (whether LP or CD).

The Complete Collection (46 Tracks) (2 CD) Mercury Records (Europe) November 1996 https://www.discogs.com/release/6415212-Dave-Dee-Dozy-Beaky-Mick-Tich-The-Complete-Collection

Together (22 tracks) (CD) BR Music (Europe) February 1997 https://www.discogs.com/release/9825318-Dave-Dee-Dozy-Beaky-Mick-Tich-Together

Boxed (100 tracks) (4 CD) BR Music (Europe) April 1999 https://www.discogs.com/release/1726191-Dave-Dee-Dozy-Beaky-Mick-Tich-Boxed

The Singles (25 tracks) (CD) BR Music (Europe) April 1999 https://www.discogs.com/release/4257568-Dave-Dee-Dozy-Beaky-Mick-Tich-The-Singles Zabadak2803 (talk) 14:02, 23 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I have added all of them apart from Together as this is looks like an expanded release of the studio album. DPUH (talk) 21:25, 25 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Many thanks DPUH for your kind efforts here. Concerning 'Boxed' & 'The Singles' then both were available outside the Netherlands i.e. Germany & the UK (in record stores there)…plus many in the USA have them & so would not put "Netherlands only release" as this is incorrect or misleading. Maybe perhaps to just completely remove it ("Netherlands only release"). In the UK Record Collector #244 the 'Boxed' was in their Top 10 Box Sets of the year 1999. UK Record Collector reviewed all 4 releases. The 'Complete Collection' was #42 in the UK Record Collector #209 albums of the year 1996. Is it possible please to place the number of tracks in brackets after each title i.e. 'The Complete Collection' (46 Tracks) (2 CD); 'Boxed (100 tracks) (4 CD); 'The Singles' (25 tracks) (CD). Please just a little bit of extra info gives the reader some better view of what is behind the title. It just looks so empty.
I'm afraid/sorry DPUH that firmly believe that 'Together' should be added to the compilation listing.
Sure it includes 10 tracks from the 'Together release but it also includes 12 tracks that have absolutely nothing to do with the original studio release. Of these 12 tracks then (a) 'I'm Going Back' then this is the only time that it has ever appeared on any album (LP/CD) whatsoever, (b) then for the 5 tracks 'Castle Far', 'Charlie Farns, Barns Has Won The Pools', 'Sarah', 'Goodnight Ma', 'Stars' then this was the very first time that they were ever heard/available anywhere/anyhow (c) for the remaining 6 tracks of the 12 bonus tracks then this was the very first time for any of them on any compilation. In fact after the album title then is it possible please to kindly place something like this in brackets after 'Together' (22 tracks with 12 additional tracks for the very first time on any compilation) (CD).
Therefore it needs to somehow be mentioned/presented to lend it to the importance that it deserves at least for DDDBM&T fans. It is totally unimaginable that such an important equivalent release for the Beatles would be ignored on Wikipedia like this. Zabadak2803 (talk) 10:05, 26 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Likewise, I have looked at this again and added it, DPUH (talk) 15:39, 28 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Many thanks DPUH for these two additions. Sincerely this is very much appreciated & very helpful. I have just made myself now some minor edits but there is still very much more to do & to add as you will soon see. I still will surely though need your help from time to time…many thanks again. Zabadak2803 (talk) 16:22, 28 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
