I've merged Data munging here. Diego (talk) 10:13, 10 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Site at link "can’t be reached' on 2020-06-13, because 'eduunix.ccut.edu.cn took too long to respond.'

I also had "little or 'no'" luck with that URL ... but there does seem to be an "archived" version ... courtesy of the "Wayback machine" ... available at https://web.archive.org/web/20130818111618/http://eduunix.ccut.edu.cn/index2/html/oracle/O'Reilly%20-%20Perl.For.Oracle.DBAs.eBook-LiB/oracleperl-APP-D-SECT-1.html - ! -
I am busy now, but you are welcome to insert that, as an "archive-url" field value ... perhaps together with a "url-status" field value of ... whatever is appropriate -- (perhaps something other than "live"). When (and "if") I return, then ... if this UPDATE to the footnote (iirc it is [it 'was'] footnote number "[1]", as of the list time I checked!) has not been done yet ... then ["maybe"] I will do it.
I hope this helps. --Mike Schwartz (talk) 08:02, 24 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Questioning sections on data mining and benefits

[edit]

Neither of these sections seems informative; I suggest we remove them. If data wrangling is just transforming data in a way that makes it more useful for some data-related task, then it seems trivially true that data wrangling would be helpful in general and helpful for data mining in particular. -Amcbride (talk) 22:01, 14 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Description analysis

[edit]

data munging, is the process of transforming and mapping data from one "raw" data form into another format with the intent of making it more appropriate and valuable for a variety of downstream purposes such as analytics. The goal of data wrangling is to assure quality and useful data. Data analysts typically spend the majority of their time in the process of data wrangling compared to the actual analysis of the data. 171.76.201.227 (talk) 06:20, 26 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
