Chinese World 8-ball Championship and 2014 World 14.1 Tournament

[edit]

Because the Chinese World 8-ball Championship and the 2014 World 14.1 Tournament aren't WPA-sanctioned events, their not official world championships. Therefore I don't think we should include succession boxes for these events. 2605:E000:2E54:800:FC0A:C1A7:A956:269B (talk) 00:11, 27 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Whether or not the WPA, who aren't the only authority in pool, recognises the World 14.1 tournament is irrelevant. A world championship it is, and a world championship it has been since 1916. As the World Straight Pool Championship article itself explains with citation, " the World 14.1 and all its champions are vastly recognized by the media, fans, pool historians, and professional players themselves". I believe this is more than enough to justify being mentioned in Appleton's page with succession boxes, although I will note that it wasn't a WPA sanctioned event if that is deemed necessary.

As for the Chinese 8-Ball World Championship it is indeed sanctioned by the WPA as shown by the inclusion of the world championships on the calendar on their website. 2015 edition- http://wpapool.com/event/chinese-8-ball-men-women-2/?instance_id=112 2017 edition- http://wpapool.com/event/cbsa-shangrao-men-women/?instance_id=41Anu Sol (talk) 06:47, 27 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
