Place of Birth

[edit]

The external link shows him coming from Wigan. I have now restored this twice as no alternative place of birth has had a citeable source posted. Regan123 13:37, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is an extract from MEN 'Heart to Art' section ...... 'Darren Almond was brought up in Appley Bridge, where his parents still live, and first became interested in art as a 13-year old attending Shevington High School'.
Appley Bridge is NOT in Wigan. Appley Bridge is NOT in the Metropolitan Borough of Wigan. Appley Bridge is NOT Wigan, it's Appley Bridge. Darren Almond is 'from' Appley Bridge, Lancashire, NOT Wigan, Greater Manchester! As YOU have already said, ANY SIGNIFICANT CONNECTION to a place entitles a person to be listed on that places article. Darren Almond is SIGNIFICANTLY CONNECTED to Appley Bridge. He was born and raised there (or maybe Billinge Maternity Hospital, who knows, but it'll be one or the other) and went to school in neighbouring Shevington. Therefore, I will correct the entry again. There is no need to shout. Can you provide a web link to this article as it clearly contradicts this from the linked page: Born 1971, Wigan, England. Thanks, Regan123 18:27, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
As you know, Regan, daft folk, who know no better, will repeat what they are told. If someone is born in Billinge Hospital, one would say, "Billinge? Where's that?", "Oh, it's near St.Helens". "Ah., but it's 'in' the Metropolitan Borough of Wigan". "Oh, Wigan, that's where George Formby lives, isn't it?", "Yes, just put Wigan, nobody's bothered anyway". But why the quick change? What does it matter where he was born? He is significantly connected to Appley Bridge, so that should count to keep things 'in line' with all the other fake additions. 80.192.242.187 18:58, 2 January 2007 (UTC) JemmyH.[reply]

And the web. link is as thus ... :::[[1]]
Thanks I'll add it as a reference later. This is a good link for other people in Greater Manchester I hope, so I'll bookmark it. Cheers, Regan123 20:22, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
