Darling's right ear

[edit]

Perhaps we could make mention of his 'smaller' ear, perhaps it's deformed (see talk: Tim McInnerny, concerning 'ear' as well). The ear difference is noticable on this pages photo. GoodDay 21:45, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Can anyone confirm this paragraph from the article Coldstream Guards?

The grouping of buttons on the tunic is a common way to distinguish between the regiments of Foot Guards. Coldstream buttons are arranged in pairs, and a star of the garter is marked on their brassware. Captain Darling from the TV comedy Blackadder was a Coldstreamer; this can be recognized from his uniform.

I can confirm (from the DVD) that Darling's buttons are arranged in pairs. However, his hat doesn't sport the cap star as shown at the top of the Coldstream Guards article, but has a crown with lion on top instead. Don't know if that disqualifies him... He wears the crown with lion as a cap badge because he is a staff officer (this is the same cap badge worn by Col/Brig today). In episode one when wearing his Mess Dress he has Coldstream Guards insignier on it. 86.8.207.21 (talk) 19:38, 24 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Percy versus Darling

[edit]

The article for the character of Lord Percy Percy has been threatened with general notability. It might be an idea to try and establish wholesale notability for both of Tim McInnerny's Blackadder character by creating one article. I know that they are two separate characters (though it is never directly stated that the Darlings aren't descended from the Percys, which is my personal unimportant view), but you see the point that together they would seem more notable. I am not promoting this wholeheartedly, it is just something that has crossed my mind. Thus it would describe the Percys of The Black Adder and Blackadder II while also talking about the Darlings from Blackadder Goes Forth and Blackadder: Back & Forth. There are a few issues of course, most importantly what would the article be named (probably Lord Percy Percy with a Kevin Darling redirect). Another point of this is because currently the basic Blackadder character notability rule is that a character from two series has its own article (Melchett, Bob, etc), but Darling only appeared in one series (only ever again in a special). This way these articles would follow that rule. Though if you think about it on another level, George is more related to Percy than Darling. What does everyone think?
