According to biographer Al Gambone, direct descendants of General Couch state that he pronounced his name as Dah-RYE-us Couch (rhymes with ouch).

I'm using Eicher as the source for this. BTW, Gary Gallagher says it is pronounced COOCH. I suppose we could list them all. Hal Jespersen 01:56, 19 Jun 2005 (UTC)

The pronounciation is the same as the word couch (aka sofa)...the cooch pronounciation is more the English variety of olden days...all my Couch relatives use the first pronounciation, if that helps! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.3.11.2 (talk) 18:28, 21 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Naturalist

[edit]

I notice that in the opening paragraph we mention that Couch was a naturalist. No reference or elaboration is made to this in the rest of the article. Shouldn't there be some commentary on the subject if we're going to mention it in the opening?Thehappysmith 16:27, 11 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Elaborated. Hal Jespersen 23:24, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
