Spelling of Finnish names in English should keep the Finnish spelling.
[edit]The background to Daria's married last name is that of her husband Roman who is from the Republic of Karelia, in which one of the official languages is Finnish and as of Finnish ancestry Roman's last name is Virolainen, which is then spelled Виролайнен in his Soviet and Belarus passports as those do not have Finnish as official language. The romanization of Виролайнен shouldn't be used as it's not the original format, but the Finnish spelling should be used in the same way as if they had been born in Finland.
By standard Finnish names are spelled the same way in English as in Finnish, with the exception of the letters ä and ö which are usually changed to an a and o. In the case of "Finnish" names with the letter å, the rules how to convert Swedish names to English spelling should be used. Trizt (talk) 10:29, 23 September 2022 (UTC)
