Question
[edit]Milwaukee Braves (1954-1957), New York/San Francisco Giants (1957-1959) and Washington Senators (1961-1962).
He helped the Braves win the 1957 World Series.
OK, here's the question. If he played on both the Braves and Giants in 1957, when was he traded? Before the end of the season, right? So, then how could he could have "helped the Braves win the 1957 World Series?" If those were the circumstances, a mid-season trade or change of teams, then it would be correct to say "He helped the Braves reach the 1957 World Series, which they won." But at the time they played the series, he was in NY watching on fuzzy black and white TV. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.7.248.137 (talk)
- Per baseball-reference.com, O'Connell was traded from the Braves to the Giants on 6/15/57. There's no record of him playing in the WS that year. It looks like the editor who added that line made a mistake, so I removed the sentence. Good catch, anonymous guy. caknuck ° is not used to being the voice of reason 01:07, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
Could someone who edits these pages change my Dad's photo to one of his National League teams? Braves Giants or Pirates? He considered himself an NL player and there are better photos of him than the one currently on his page. Thank you in advance.
