In a spirit of full disclosure allow me to say that I have partaken in a very protracted (and ultimately fruitless) discussion over the description of Simferopol's status in the city's own talk page, where I have stressed that the city is de jure a part of Ukraine and de facto under Russia's control. However, at the time of the player's birth the city was an uncontested part of Ukraine, whatever the current status of the city might be. I believe it would be uncontroversial to state his place of birth as Simferopol, Ukraine. Ostalgia (talk) 19:08, 16 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
