I have expanded this article, and request that someone reassess the "stub" categories noted on this discussion page. Thanks!NearTheZoo (talk) 13:38, 22 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Nice work. The stub ratings are determined by individual projects... you should leave a message on the talk pages of WP:WikiProject Chicago and WP:WikiProject_Biography/Politics_and_government, and ask them to come reassess it. It looks C or B class to me. Ocaasi c 14:09, 22 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the links. Will do that now! Again--thanks! NearTheZoo (talk) 19:25, 22 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Wikiproject Chicago rated article B, so after no answer from other projects, matched the B rating to WPBio and WPCatholicism. My understanding is that quality ratings can be matched, because "an article is an article," but that importance ratings depend on each project. Hope I'm right, and acted appropriately! I will not use the GAN template if that's ok with you. I can only review this during my free time, and I don't got much during weekdays. This GAN is on-hold btw.

  • Lead is quite short. It should summarize the whole article.
  • Since the lead is the summary of the article, it doesn't need any citations unless that fact being stated is unique to the lead. In which case, that means you didn't summarize well since the lead should not introduce any new facts apart from those mentioned in the article body.
  • External link "In addition, House Resolution 1216, introduced in 2010 by Congressman" is dead.
  • Per WP:POSTNOM, "Post-nominal letters, other than those denoting academic degrees, should be included." STL being an academic degree, it should be removed.
  • The gallery is real nice but please do integrate the pictures into the article. There's much boring blocks of texts that could be complemented by these photos.
  • I think the successor section belongs to the House of Reps section.
  • "with a degree in Theology". Theology should not be capitalized since it's not the proper name of the degree program which he took. I assume that it would be something like BA in Theology or Bachelor of Theology. Theology by itself is a discipline.
  • Link "House of Representatives" upon first mention in the House of Representatives section.
  • The see also section should not contain links that are already linked in the article. Unless you replace the see also list, the section should be removed.
  • While the use of citation templates is not required, good citation format is. So I advise you to use them in the cites. The references section doesn't look very professional.
  • Is this all? Did you try researching on other facts about him? Did he endorse any candidate? Was he involved in any cause? Is he notable for anything else? What other significant posts did he hold.

I am still to read much of the article. I still haven't checked it for prose and references. I will be posting any other concerns in the following days. Moray An Par (talk) 22:58, 28 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Moray An Par -- I really apologize for not getting back to you sooner, but in my "real life" I have been a little swamped, and almost all the time I can afford to contribute to wikipedia has been used for the article, Religious symbolism in the United States military. I just don't think I can afford to put any time into the Daniel Coughlin article right now. If it would help for me to withdraw the GA nomination, I could do that. Please let me know what you think -- and again, I apologize for not responding sooner. NearTheZoo (talk) 23:23, 18 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for responding. I would have to fail this nomination from now. Please feel free to nominate it again when you've addressed concerns posted here, and have enough time to do so. Moray An Par (talk) 06:27, 23 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
