Danbury (disambiguation) → Danbury – Although the Connecticut city does get more views, the city is named after Danbury, Essex. For the same reason as WP:PLURALPT "Because readers and editors are used to seeing titles at the singular form, and can be expected to search for them/link to them in the singular form" WP:USPLACE specifies US settlements should nearly always have the state included and a number of the links to Danbury are for the village in Essex. A Google search shows results that are mixed between the Connecticut one, the Essex one and the Danbury Campervans Volkswagenbut but that's probably because of my location. The redirect has been pointed to the DAB twice and apparently was attempted to be made as a DAB for just Connecticut and Essex at the base name. - Oppose. The Connecticut city is the clear primary topic based on page views [1]. The DAB page getting two views a day shows readers have no problem finding which Danbury they're looking for. Calidum 18:47, 9 April 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose. Danbury, CT is the largest Danbury and is really the only one with any significant pageviews. Feels like an easy WP:PRIMARYTOPIC in my view. Nohomersryan (talk) 20:26, 9 April 2019 (UTC)
- Support per nomination. There are 14 entries at the Danbury (disambiguation) page — too many for a city of 80,000 to be considered the WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT for the entire English-speaking world. —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 06:45, 10 April 2019 (UTC)
- You seem to misunderstand Primary Topic, which does not set some kind of bare minimum standard for how big a topic must be to be a primary but rather deals with relative notability among topics of the same name.--Yaksar (let's chat) 00:06, 15 April 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose. Sorry to the above comment, but the entry count is not relevant at all. It is what WP:PRIMARYTOPIC that is important, and it is easily Danbury, Connecticut in this place. --Quiz shows 21:41, 10 April 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose No compelling information provided to demonstrate why this would not be a primary topic. The nomination seems to misunderstand the purpose of USPLACE, which is used to determine the state name going in the title but does not somehow indicate that the page cannot be a redirect from the city title alone.--Yaksar (let's chat) 00:53, 11 April 2019 (UTC)
- I am aware that a different title can still be primary (WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT) the point can be made that people are more likely to look for the city with the state similar to the points made [2][3][4]. You could replace the PLURALPT wording with one for the USPLACE disambiguation such as "Because readers and editors are used to seeing USPLACE titles with the state included, they can be expected to search for them/link to them with the state included". Do you see how those points are likely to apply here to? Crouch, Swale (talk) 08:50, 11 April 2019 (UTC)
- Weak support per nom and Roman Spinner. No clear primary topic, and the fact that people are often attempting to link to the one in Essex but accidentally linking here often is telling. Paintspot Infez (talk) 13:07, 11 April 2019 (UTC)
