A bit of additional information put up. I really need to find my notes on Javan volcanoes about the other Danan. And Verbeek's analysis of his samples. Also, does any Dutch speakers know the proper translation of Bootsmanrots? A report soon after the catastrophe calls it 'Black Man's Rock' (I do not remember if it's actually 'Black Man's' or 'Blackman's'), but on at least one later map, it's 'Bosun's Rock'. <1883 photographs?

[edit]

If they still exist, then they should be added to this page and/or the Krakatoa page.ZFT (talk) 22:46, 13 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The best photograph has been on the page for years, but it keeps getting deleted for the poorer quality woodcut. Danan may be seen in the photo in the background as an irregular ridge to the right of the erupting Perbowatan. This is the best shot of Danan known. – I am really not seeing the primacy of a rather obscure long-destroyed volcano (Krakatoa is famous, the individual cones are little-known) for the meaning of a word that is the name of a reasonable number of still-existing places. BD2412 T 04:30, 15 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
