Controversy/Reputation
[edit]This article should have a section on Lindelof's reputation for making open-ended plots, as it's a pretty big part of his image. He is known for stringing together mysteries and puzzles in his plots, to the point where no logical explanation is possible. He will even admit this himself. It is a pretty distinct writing trait of his. Whereas other movies, like Blade Runner or Inception, have mysteries that spark debate because multiple explanations are possible, Lindelof's movies generally spark debate because no explanation is possible. In other words, there is nothing substantial in his writing - no truth to discover. This questionable style has provoked a huge backlash on the internet. While some people would call it lazy or intellectually vacant, a small minority of fans seem to like it. I can see both sides.
- I completely agree with this. However, our opinions aren't sufficient to make this edit. I think this "reputation" is worth adding, if you can find reputable source(s) that say it. You and I saying it aren't enough. 67.91.184.189 (talk) 18:19, 1 July 2014 (UTC) Ferocious Badger
Woah, hold up. This is simply not true. Whoever said that "no logical explanation is possible" that's pretty unfair and is simply an opinion. Sure you could say his writing often employs mysteries, but that's about it. But saying there is "nothing substantial in his writing - no truth to discover" is crazy. Especially as he is pretty famous for his emotive character writing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 25willp (talk • contribs) 01:58, 16 December 2019 (UTC)

Its versus it's
[edit]Lindelof does not know the difference. Rather interesting for someone who is, we are told, hugely influential and lives by the pen. 2A01:CB0C:CD:D800:152B:A69F:17F9:3219 (talk) 20:51, 8 June 2023 (UTC)
