Name origin
[edit]Although the name is rarely used anymore, Damaris is Roman and biblical name of a woman. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Damaris_(biblical_figure) . Cotta is probably short for cottage, or could mean a garment (surplice). Yeah I am sure we all heard the claim that it was an indian word-which is probably just a tale for the tourist.
