Stanley

[edit]

I was always of the impression that the open restaurant across from the new Library in Stanley was one of the big 28. Is this not the case? What type of license do they operate on then? Sure has the look and feel for what a dai pai dong is described as. Tom M. 02:04, 16 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

yeah, those two ones look like dai pai dongs (they probably were). But what they hold should be just general restaurant licences. Anyway, today the line between dai pai dong and restaurant is a blurred one, since many dai pai dongs own their shops (i.e. permanent space to seat their customers). Cheers.--K.C. China- Guangdong Province

Dai Pai Dong's are everywhere in Guangdong, especially so in the smaller coastal cities. They basically pay the police to look the other way; there is no licensing system. BBQ chicken and seafood and lots of beer and everyone having a generally good time is what goes on there, whilest some people just come for a late night snack before bed. In any case, the lack of mention of these dai pai dong is a glaring omission from this wikipedia article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.204.238.54 (talk) 16:46, 21 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

25 or 28?

[edit]

The article mentions that there are 25 大排档 left in hong kong, then says there are 28 who have the proper licenses. Which is the correct number? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.246.222.9 (talk) 03:08, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
