Real name, not pseudonym
[edit]Although the article claimed that Dafydd ab Hugh is a pseudonym, according to Dafydd and others the name is real:
Dafydd ab Hugh IS MY REAL NAME. It's the name on my drivers license, my passport, my DD-214, my college degrees, and my eighteen published novels.
I will change the text accordingly. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ylee (talk • contribs) 21:27, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
- He was formerly David Friedman, if memory serves, so the error is forgivable. —Tamfang 23:08, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
- I suspect that the gentleman in question is not a Welsh speaker, otherwise he would not have chosen "ab Hugh" as his extremely pseud surname. He would know that the correct form is "ap Huw". Doh! Baggie 01:23, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
- And what was his father's name? Somehow Hugh Friedman seems unlikely. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 16:28, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
- My father's name didn't include either Hugh or ab Hugh. I legally changed my name in the 1980s for sundry reasons. --DaH — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dafyddabhugh (talk • contribs) 08:16, 24 August 2010 (UTC)

How is it pronounced?
[edit]Can someone provide a phonetic spelling? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.203.58.1 (talk) 19:14, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
- Da (the first part of dad) fydd (the -fid- of fiddle) Ab (the -ab- in abdominal) Hugh (like you would expect, hyew). Why do I say this? Because I have spoken with the man. Jim Bough (talk) 04:01, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
- Actually, I pronounce it "DAH-veth (voiced th) ab Hew." "ab Hugh" was the form of our family name on my mother's side when we arrived in the U.S. in the early 1800s. --DaH — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dafyddabhugh (talk • contribs) 08:16, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
- I've added an IPA guide for how the name itself is pronounced (at least in Welsh, since it is a Welsh name), but maybe Dafydd himself pronounces it differently. --ConCass (talk) 14:42, 15 April 2014 (UTC)
- Any claims to pronunciation need to be verified to reliable sources. — Fourthords | =Λ= | 23:40, 7 August 2020 (UTC)

[edit]Minor edits, e.g., noting that the four Doom novels were co-authored by me and Brad Linaweaver. I think I corrected a publication date or two some time ago. --DaH (Forgive me, but I don't know how to sign my own corrections.) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dafyddabhugh (talk • contribs) 08:16, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
Big Lizards
[edit]There should probably be a mention of Daffyd's blog biglizards.net/blog. It seems to be currently defunct, but was pretty influential among conservatives in its day.MikeR613 (talk) 16:29, 21 March 2016 (UTC)
