Drum magazine new and old

[edit]

It's not clear from the publisher's website that this is supposed to be the successor to the very influential Drum magazine of the 1950-1960's. It seems like it, though-the Old Drum was sold to Naspers in the 80's. Once the magazine's website is complete, it should be more obvious, hopefully.

The earlier Drum needs an entry here (assuming this is the successor). Published or edited by Jim Bailey, only (I think) influential magazine aimed at a black audience from that period of South Africa, exposés and Sophiatown urban life by Mr Drum Henry Nxumalo, photo's by [Jürgen Schadeberg]... A film has even been made about it (Drum (2004 film). Currently I don't have the resources to put together an article-if anyone does, something here would be fantastic. Article updated

[edit]

As far as I can make out, it is the same magazine (website still doesn't exist). Have written a basic article - more to come.
