DPRC redirect

[edit]

If you wish to turn that DPRC page from a redirect into a dab page, you will still have to edit all the 100+ articles that now link to it, changing the link target per WP:FIXDABLINKS. Fut.Perf. 14:57, 23 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I suppose I could fix the links. Maybe DPRC (disambiguation) would be better? It's been awhile since I did a disambig page -O.R.Comms 15:47, 23 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
That would be the way to go if "DPRC" by itself had a clear primary meaning, in which case it should continue to redirect to the relevant target article. Fut.Perf. 19:36, 23 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The Chinese redirect was apparently intended for "District of the People's Republic of China". In military history circles within the US, especially involving military service record research, the phrase is commonly referenced as meaning the Demobilized Personnel Records Center, DPRC, which was predecessor to NPRC. -O.R.Comms 01:26, 24 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

That may well be the case. I have no objections to turning this into a disambiguation page, as I have no particular reason to believe the Chinese meaning is massively more prominent. Incidentally I just found yet another meaning that may be relevant. But in any case, the point remains that the existing incoming links to this page will have to be cleaned up, and the responsibility for doing that is on you. Fut.Perf. 09:35, 24 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
