[edit]There are some mistakes in this article: 1, the FUG (SAV) (felderítő (Scout) úszó(Amphibious) gépjármű (Vehicle)) wasn't based on BRDM. Most of spare parts and subsystems came from D-344 truck, 303 type bus(fwd suspension) and other types of Csepel (and Rába) factory. Only the support-whell system based on brdm. 2, The brdm was better construction than brdm (better hull design, reliable gearbox, a special heat treatment process in hull building), but there was some problem in inital mass production. (at least 1100 FUG built). 3, a few FUG was equiped with a prototype anti-tank rocket launcer system, but all of them removed, because the hungarian rocket lancher project had deleted (hungary bought the RPG)
4, PSZH (Páncélozott (Armoured) Személyszállító (Personal carrer) Harcjármű(Fighting vehicle) was a different design: without support-whells, modified engine, new interor layout.
In the '70-s was some modernisation plan (diesel engine, new suspension, new turrets (but never was enough money) and the Csepel and the Rába planed a 6-whelled, modern APC (PSZH-2 and FUG-2 family). A few years later hungary bought BTR-80s.
