General Jan Lipski

[edit]

On 8 July 2007 Bogitor removed the footnote to General Jan Lipski which read: “Jan Lipski z Lipego h. Grabie” in Polish, indicating that he was removing spam. I disagree that it is spam. The referenced site is a genealogy site with herbs (coats-of-arms). There is currently no article about General Jan Lipski in the English Wikipedia to link to, so the footnote provides information about who he was. Among other things, it gives his birth and death years (1739-1832), the positions that he held during lifetime, alternative names that he is referred to by and lists his parents and his wife. It is not the best possible reference that indicates who he was, but it should do until someone can come up with a better one, ideally a Wikipedia article. One reason that this Jan Lipski needs to identified is to distinguish him from the Jan Lipski about whom English Wikipedia articles have been written, Jan Lipski (bishop) and [[Jan Józef Lipski] (politician & poet), as well as the Wikipedia mention of Jan Aleksander Lipski (cardinal). --Bejnar 16:58, 8 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
