Czech Republic is still the official name of the country, nothing changed. Google Maps are not a reliable source here. According to them, Crimea belongs to Russia now, which is not true. - Darwinek (talk) 20:02, 16 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Czech Republic While google maps is correct regarding Crimea (you pass Russian border controls, are in the remit of the FSB and not SBU, and the Russian military is on the ground - legal/diplomatic claims aside - this is the reality on the ground) - it would seem that Czechia has not caught on yet, per 'Nobody calls it Czechia': Czech Republic's new name fails to catch on, Guardian or wapo, and also per a very simple google-news check in the past month - Czechia gNews, Czech Republic gnews - the difference in the number of hits (towards Republic) is staggering and I'll note that the hits for Czechia are of lower quality (e.g. press releases) or Jewish Week published in English outlets in countries where the local form is close to Czechia (e.g. Hebrew for Jewish Week which is run by Times of Israel)).Icewhiz (talk) 10:32, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Czech Republic According to reports, there's a strong possibility that the administration that put the change through is a about to be voted out of office, which means the controversial name change may go with them. Czech Republic Until usage outside of Wikipedia changes drastically, it makes no sense to use Czechia anywhere here except as an acknowledged alternative term. Czech Republic, because it's the commonest name in English and there's no claim that it's inaccurate, confusing, discriminatory, or otherwise inappropriate. Czech Republic Hi all--summoned for Rfc. That Google maps shows differently than Czech Republic is a good observation. Perhaps it is an indicator of a beginning trend, something that may happen. Can we all go home now? I've removed the RfC template as there doesn't seem to be a point in soliciting any further input (per WP:SNOW), but I'm not closing it formally in case anyone wishes to add anything. So, there's no way the link could be changed to something other than the title of the article (see MOS:DABPIPE), and the article isn't likely to be renamed any time soon (if it needs be, then WP:RM is the way to go). And if the question is about whether the descriptor inside the entry on this dab page should mention Chechia (and it's unclear if this is the case), then the take-home message from the discussion, if there is to be any, is that there's no support for that.
