I don't believe this line is neutral- " At the announcement of his award most of the squash community in Mumbai were jealous and made a lot of unnecessary noise". It is biased towards Mr. Poncha's point of view, and there is unclear what "most" and "unnecessary noise" means in this sentence, as well as why the author believes they were jealous. -digitalinfinity
Please use Google news/ wikipedia and note the names of the people who made statements last year and critised the award selection. May I also request you to search for the credentials of the people who made these statements and also check on retractions made at a later date as well as some of the points which were later clarified. Once this is done Im sure you will get the correct picture.
To respond specificfically to the points raised:
Most : Please refer to the ispsquash.com website and the allegations made by ISP (based in Bombay).
unnecessary noise : if the award was without merit, how come all the men and women finalists at the Nationals which concluded 10 Sept were from the Academy and have trained under Cyrus Poncha. How come the same Academy produced 5 of the 8 quarterfinalist in the Mens section( the balance 3 btw are based overseas currently and dont train in India) How come Tamil Nadu won the Team event?? Maharashtra with all its wise coaches and learned associations did not even make it to the semis!!
Jealous: Sportsmen who had no idea about squash were incited to make statements. they said they were more deserving, well if that is not jealousy what is? did they win it next year??
