Given that the Taiwanese election will be receiving significant international attention and this candidate is a relative newcomer to politics, it is important that this page is as up to date as possible. I have added some further information to be considered by the community for addition to this article.

As per Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance I wish to declare that I work for the Taiwanese People's Party. I nevertheless believe that all of the information I am providing is relevant and can improve an important entry. This is all sourced, based on reputable news coverage, and much of it is already included in the Chinese version of this article (吳欣盈). I invite Wikipedia Editors to adjust the article accordingly, based on their own judgment.

Early Career:

• There is more information about Wu’s early career online on reputable sources like the World Economic Forum. Namely, detail about her role as an investment analyst Merrill Lynch.This was also confirmed in her biography during a hearing at the European Parliament and is reflected in the Chinese version of this page.
• Sources including Tatler and Peninsula Press also provide further detail on her position at Shin Kong:
• Wu served as a special assistant to the chairman of Shin Kong Financial Holdings, and subsequently as an executive vice president of strategic planning at Shin Kong Life Insurance, where she oversaw transformation planning human resources and business development into ASEAN countries. She was also appointed as CEO of the organisation’s philanthropic enterprise: the Shin Kong Life Foundation, which specialises in protecting oral history, children’s education, women’s health, aboriginal education, and disaster relief. Under Wu’s leadership, the foundation earned multiple national awards, including the National Civic Service Award for the Best NGO in Taiwan.

Political Career

• There is room for more explanation of the Taiwanese electoral system and the party-list proportional representation system that led to Wu’s eventual appointment to the Legislative Yuan (See Legislative Yuan Elections), and the performance of the TPP (as per the Chinese Wikipedia)
• Translated text for reference: On November 19, 2019, Wu was nominated by the Taiwan People's Party as a non-district legislator, ranking seventh. In the legislative election on January 11, 2020 , the Taiwan People’s Party won five non-district legislative seats with more than 1.58 million votes and a party vote rate of 11.2%. As the seventh candidate, Wu was not appointed. On October 14, 2022, Cai Biru, the non-district legislator of the Taiwan People's Party , announced her resignation; on October 20, the Central Election Commission announced that Wu Xinying was the replacement member of the party's non-district legislator , and later on November 1 She was sworn in at the Legislative Yuan on 2 November 2022.

• Work on Healthcare and digitalisation of healthcare, including her involvement in the Digital Health Development Act: United Daily News (Legislator Wu Xinying calls for the introduction of digital technology to upgrade domestic overall medical efficiency) and CNA (Almost all the provisions are retained! • FTV News: Legislative Yuan convening committee election "blue and white" Wu Xinying won the health and environmental convening committee: On September 25, 2023, Wu was elected as the Commissioner of the Legislative Yuan Social Welfare and Environmental Hygiene Committee. Wu’s election resulted from the support of Chinese Nationalist Party legislators, a rare example of opposition party cooperation in the LY.
• Climate Change & Environment
• Wu led the TPP in negotiations over the Climate Change Act and contributed to the drafting of the Organization Act of the Ministry of the Environment, both of which the LY passed into law. She also drafted the LY’s first Carbon Tax Regulations and a Marine Protection Education Law that are under consideration in the LY.

• International Engagement:
• Wu has represented Taiwan and the TPP at the international level, and engaged in foreign policy issues as a legislator. This includes:
• Her participation at COP28 (Which is detailed in the Chinese page)
• Her testimony to the European Parliament’s Committee on International Trade [INTA], during which she briefed the attendees on Taiwan’s economic growth and its role in the global supply chain, and urged the EU to sign a bilateral investment agreement with Taiwan (Taiwan Embassy Belgium; European Parliament).

• Data Protection & Cyber Security
• Wu drafted privacy law amendments that would make domestic data standards align with the EU’s GDPR and an Artificial Intelligence Act, to shape Taiwan’s digital future (based on the EU’s AI Act).

• UDN: The electronic signature law has not been revised for more than 20 years. Legislator Wu Xinying calls for "guarantee level" classification
• Wu’s parliamentary track record has won her an award from the Pocket Congress as a “3-Star Outstanding Committee Member” in the Social Welfare, Health, and Environmental Affairs Committee (Yahoo), and “Outstanding Legislator Award” from the Renewable Energy Alliance (LTN)

• Wu has proposed amendments to Taiwan’s Central Bank Act, to set aside 10% of Taiwan’s foreign reserves (the fourth largest in the world), to create a sovereign wealth fund - as per Bloomberg.
