Aratus needs to be verified. I assume he mentions the name of the Constellation without the "nymph" part. The "nymph" tradition is most likely a Renaissance-era fabrication, or at best an innovation of Late Antiquity. --dab (𒁳) 07:47, 5 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I'm unaware of Cynosura meaning anything other than the pole star itself. Copernicus uses it that way, as the pole star, in de Revolutionibus chapter 6, and on the 19'th century constellation card Draco and Ursa Minor included in the History and Mythology section of the Ursa Minor article the label Cynosura is also used to identify the pole star specifically. The body of the text of that article also cites in note 11 the name as referring to the pole star, not the constellation.

I can't see that the article 'Cynosura adds anything verifiable at all to the existing article 'Ursa Minor'.
