Age

[edit]

People keep sticking her age and birth dates in the article, even though they have yet to provide a reliable source. This will get reverted every time, until a reliable source is provided. It's more than amusing that nobody can even agree on the date. The Mark of the Beast (talk) 19:43, 25 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Twitter and her personal website are not reliable sources. The Mark of the Beast (talk) 00:40, 28 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Actually official/personal websites can be perfectly acceptable self-published sources regarding information on the subject themselves. We quite often ask BLP subjects to confirm basic biographical data via their website when contacted via OTRS - this is also suggested at BLPN when subjects post there. I agree that a tweet from an outside source is poor, it is not from the subject and does not meet WP:RS. --Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 01:00, 28 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
So I can create a website about myself and say that I'm engaged to Meryl Streep, and that would be an acceptable source? The Mark of the Beast (talk) 19:04, 30 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Well, you would lose credibility in pretty short order, assuming you were notable enough to have an article on Wikipedia. I did not create the current policies and guidelines regarding reliable sources and self-published sources, I was simply outlining what the current consensus is (and note the caveat of "not unduly self-serving"). If there are no independent sources stating an exact date of birth, yet the subject's own website states, for example, February 12th, are you asserting that this does not meet the requirements of verifiability? If so, then a discussion needs to happen at Wikipedia talk:RS in order to update the guidelines there. --Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 01:06, 31 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It always serves an actress/entertainer's best interests to appear younger than she really is. Remember the actress who's suing imdb because they put up her real age. The Mark of the Beast (talk) 02:56, 31 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]
An image used in this article, File:Cymphonique-miller.jpg, has been nominated for speedy deletion at Wikimedia Commons for the following reason: Copyright violations
What should I do?

Don't panic; deletions can take a little longer at Commons than they do on Wikipedia. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion (although please review Commons guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to upload it to Wikipedia (Commons does not allow fair use)
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Commons Undeletion Request

To take part in any discussion, or to review a more detailed deletion rationale please visit the relevant image page (File:Cymphonique-miller.jpg)
