Politics section warranted?

[edit]

The two paragraphs at issue are:

The day after Donald Trump in a presidential debate told the Proud Boys, a far-right group with a history of inciting violence, to "stand back and stand by," Banister tweeted that the group was misunderstood and had "a few bad apples who’ve claimed to be part of their org but in general not true.
In 2021, Banister had a Twitter account called “Recall Chesa Boudin” that argued progressive District Attorney Chesa Boudin of San Francisco should be recalled. She donated $10,000 to a GoFundMe account started by Uber investor Jason Calacanis whose goal was to hire a researcher to investigate Boudin's office.

The first item was reported by the Washington Post, one of the United States' most prestigious newspapers. The second was reported by Mother Jones, also a reputable publication. The editors of the Post and Mother Jones thought these items worthy of appearing in their publications. Why should they not appear in Wikipedia? Because they don't match the tenor of this article, which is essentially a fan page? The article goes into all kinds of detail about the subject's investing history, her awards, and a lot of trivial stuff. Surely it can also present the subject's political views. This is not "celebrity gossip and trivia." The Post and Mother Jones don't deal in that. If you want to revert this, you at least owe me a better explanation than the one you gave. I don't understand your logic here. Should Wikipedia post all the content of all major news publications?
Please refer to Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not, specifically where it mentions "Wikipedia is not a newspaper" Kristyuhorton (talk) 01:42, 24 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
