tea vs. sea

[edit]

Shouldn't it be "sea-clipper" and not "tea-clipper"? (I haven't read the story, but I know there was a ship called the Cutty Sark.) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 143.229.181.41 (talkcontribs)

As you like it... By tea- Yefremov means that the ship was used primarily as the tea cargo transport. --Yuriy Lapitskiy 07:19, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

They were know as tea-clippers because they were designed and built specifically for the very lucrative tea trade between China and England. The first ship in got the highest prices for her cargo. Many famous races over the 1500 miles (via Cape of Good Hope) ensued. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.31.162.14 (talk) 13:33, 13 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
