Season 1 Episode Guide
[edit]On the Cutthroat Kitchen episode guide page of the Food Network Website it list the episodes by episode number, but with further looking I found out the episodes are not aired in order for example Wing It listed as episode 01 airs Sep 15, 2013 at 10:00 PM ET/PT, but Tac'o the Town which is shown as episode 01 airs on Aug 25, 2013 at 10:00 PM ET/PT, so either someone go the episode numbers wrong or Food Network is not airing them in order. I'm not sure how I should write the episode guide with the Food Network website having it this way.Casey.Grim85 09:56, 26 August 2013 (UTC)
As far as I know it's fairly common for TV shows to air in a different order from their production order, for various reasons. I don't know if there's a policy, but I'd add a column to the table for "episode number" (more correctly, it's a production code) found on the network episode list you linked, and continue adding them in the order they are airing. 70.63.8.34 (talk) 05:47, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
yeah again look at the latest episodes they are one month ahead . Does wikipedia care? Do we? does Facts matter? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.183.140.145 (talk) 18:50, 16 February 2015 (UTC)
Notable contestants.
[edit]Please indicate which season and episode of 'Cutthroat Kitchen' that the notable contestants appeared on - (203.211.77.38 (talk) 11:35, 13 May 2015 (UTC))
Season breaks?
[edit]How has this article decided where to break seasons? Some episode guides seem to consider Evilicious Finale as the first episode of the 8th season, while this list puts it as the last episode of the 7th. Production code puts the evilicious tournament mid-7th season, and there's no real gap in airdates between seasons, so how have we decided where to break the season? TheHYPO (talk) 17:32, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
The 'seasons' really make no sense. 13 seasons in 4 years is ridiculous in our understanding, but the production company and the network can make up their own definitions apparently. I believe air date should be more relevant than production date, so IMDB overrides foodnetwork. Tvashtar2919 (talk) 06:01, 17 May 2016 (UTC)
- While this is (now) a better discussion for the list of episodes page, my thinking is that a typical season usually has either 13 or 26 episodes. There are some oddities (probably to account for the tourneys) but that's probably why IMDb (or whoever it was that gave the original season break info) did it as such. Contestant with no money
[edit]Wasn't there a contestant that actually spent all the money he/she had and Alton allowed the bid to go through?--BigMac1212 (talk) 04:15, 21 July 2015 (UTC)
Trimming tourneys
[edit]I've removed the list of contestants for the "Tourneys" (with the exception of the Superstar Sabotages. This is because a) it's mostly trivia, b) we don't list the contestants for any other episodes, and c) none of the people listed on the tourney episodes have their own Wikipedia page. If someone wants to re-add them, would you mind giving your rationale before doing so? Primefac (talk) 17:13, 12 July 2016 (UTC)
- The reason I put up the tables in the first place was yes, partially some trivia, I'll admit. Another reason being that if someone was tuning in to a tournament episode which brought back contestants, and perhaps they hadn't seen that contestants original episode and wanted to find it, I figured this would be an ideal place to be able to do so instead of trying to roam the internet to potentially find it. Because that can be quite challenging. And while it's true that maybe a lot of people may not go through the trouble, I just thought it'd be a convenient tidbit to have on the page. I do understand your reasoning, however. Cheers! Lefty112 (talk) 04:53, 14 July 2016 (UTC)
Tournament/Returning Contestants
[edit]I've been pondering it over recently whether to add back the names of tournament and returning contestants. Eventually I decided to because I feel that the contestants who return for a second time are notable within the context of the show. Sometimes even Food Network themselves put the names of returning contestants on their website for Cutthroat Kitchen. So I've put back the tournament contestants on this page along with their original episodes that the appear in because I feel it gives the page a little more depth, including the ones for the upcoming Camp Cutthroat tourney. Lefty112 (talk) 03:09, 27 July 2016 (UTC)
- And I still feel that it is unnecessary. None of the contestants have their own Wiki page, which means that none of them are notable per Wikipedia's standards. Similar to how we do not include non-notable people in general lists, I do not think we should include non-notable people in these tables. However, since we are only two people I will ping WP:TV and get their (slightly more official) opinions on the matter. Primefac (talk) 19:10, 27 July 2016 (UTC)
- i didn't find anything in wp guidelines about notability of a person for being included in a list. wp:notable is about whether or not to create an individual article for a topic; but just including something relevant in the list? i don't think it's about notability. however, that's my personal opinion. cook shows ain't my type. it's better to search the MOS to see if there's anything relevant. --HamedH94 (talk) 03:14, 7 September 2016 (UTC)
- I'm not sure if this quite covers the issue at hand, but I think that if you are listing contestants, and you get to one who is returning from a previous season or something, then you can just add a little note or indicator beside their name so that readers realise they are returning. - adamstom97 (talk) 03:59, 7 September 2016 (UTC)
- Adamstom.97, the issue is that for every tournament (save for the Superstar Sabotage tourneys) the contestants were on a previous episode. My opinion is that (currently) none of these people are notable per Wikipedia's standards, and thus including them (and their former episodes) on the page is little more than trivia. But that's just it, my opinion. Trying to get others' to form consensus (maybe even get the MOS updated if such topics aren't in there). Primefac (talk) 00:10, 8 September 2016 (UTC)
- They don't have to be notable enough for their own article to be mentioned here. I'm not entirely sure how the show works, but the contestants are the cast members, and should be treated like a normal TV cast would per MOS:TVCAST. - adamstom97 (talk) 03:37, 8 September 2016 (UTC)
- The closest Food Network series that has tournaments and has a similar format is Chopped. It does not list every contestant for the tournaments (though the List of Episodes does list all the players). I know it's a bit OTHERSTUFF but codifying these types of series will make for a better encyclopedia.
- I guess the main thing I'm struggling with is actually justifying the inclusion of these tables; to me they take up space and give little useful information about the show itself. I would have no issues putting it (somewhere tasteful) on the "List of" page, or even creating a page specifically for the tournaments (though I don't know if that would pass GNG). Throwing them all on the main article isn't much better than having every episode there (those of course have now been forked), so maybe we should do the same with this info. Fifteen seasons?
[edit]Maybe, I'm miscounting, but . . . : 2013 till 2017. Isn't that FOUR seasons?Mwidunn (talk) 04:34, 16 June 2019 (UTC)mwidunn
- Seasons don't have to run a full year. Based on the official website it looks like they counted a "season" as around 13 episodes. Primefac (talk) 12:26, 16 June 2019 (UTC)
