The band has been around for a few years now and i am interested in finding out more information about them which is not currently available. I wish to keep this page open for users to collaborate and inform each other of their knowledge of the band. I'm sure that other users of Wikipedia have more knowledge than I as the band has been around for some time in New Zealand, they have had their videos played on the local television channel (Juice tv) a lot over the past two years (most of these videos are available on youtube) and have had several reviews from various magazines (as quoted on their myspace).

Im sure other people would be also interested to know more about this band. The band has been interviewed on Juice TV (New Zealand, National TV Show), the interview lasted for quite awhile, not sure how long, i cannot provide a link to the interview (anyone?). They played at the Big Day Out 07' In New Zealand on one of the main stages. This band has done national tours of New Zealand, one tour was with a well known New Zealand band called Steriogram, they are currently touring Abroad.

The Big Day Out, Mt Smart Stadium, 19th January 2007
Lineup: http://www.bigdayout.com/documents/File/time_auckland.pdf (Well known bands at this concert include Tool, The Killers, My Chemical Romance, Muse, plus heaps other not so well known but good bands).

More references that confirm the bands notability can be found in the main page under references. 23:05, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

? - Present

[edit]

The question of the beginning of the band is a bit tricky, since they have played under various lineups and under three different names since October or November 2004.

Under the name 'Nova Echo' they were playing in late 2004. The earliest show I can reference is in Nov. 2004 (http:// blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=199969861&blogID=274740947). I know that this was one of their first shows. I think it may have been their second. Nova Echo was a five piece. When I first saw them in 2004, Nick was on vocals. I'm not sure who else was in the band. By June 2005, the band was still a five piece, but with Nick on guitar and someone else on vocals (I forget his name) (See pictures of the band from Dec 2005 here: http://petrajane.com/snap/20050628/). So by this stage the four current members of Cut Off Your Hands were in the band. A Nova Echo track appears on Mole Music's "Go With The Movers" compilation. It's called "Cvision". It was also a bit of a hit on Bfm at one point.

The first show I have evidence of them playing under the name "Shaky Hands" is January 6, 2006 (http://petrajane.com/snap/20060106/). The name change came with the departure of that original tall singer whose name I cannot remember in the photo evidence given above. Although, it is apparent that the band played under the name "Nova Echo" at least once without said singer on vocals, as can be seen from these photos with Nick as the singer of the band in December 2005 (http://petrajane.com/snap/20051209/2). This must have been before they settled on a new name, and the set probably consisted of Nova Echo songs rather than the newer Shaky Hands set. As Shaky Hands, I believe they continue to play a number of Nova Echo songs for a time. And even after establishing a new set of songs, still sometimes played a Nova Echo number or two. I believe that there was some amount of disagreement between the Nova Echo singer (who apparently had a large role in the writing of Nova Echo songs) and the new Shaky Hands, which partly explains the name change and the dropping of Nova Echo songs.

As has been noted in the main article, Shaky Hands had to change their name due the American Shaky Hands' threat of legal action. The name change happened in Jan. 2007 (Sorry, I don't have a reference for this info, only a personal email). With this, the title of their "Cut Off Your Hands" EP was swapped with their band name (Shaky Hands). So, the titled of the EP is now called "Shaky Hands", and the band name became Cut Off Your Hands.

This basic info about name changes and lineups might be useful. I'm also interested in opinions as to when a start date can be given for the band (since at the moment there is only a question mark). Cut Off Your Hands are still playing songs they played as Shaky Hands, so perhaps the band's name change from Nova Echo to Shaky Hands (Jan.2006) can be given as a starting date, and a note can be made of the band's Nova Echo roots in the main article?? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bicycle communique (talkcontribs) 00:28, 23 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
