Talk:Cup of beans
This article was nominated for deletion on 14 January 2007. The result of the discussion was to merge with and redirect to Baked beans. |
This article does not fall into either of the two categories in Wikipedia:Patent_Nonsense and therefore the reason given for the article being marked for speedy deletion is invalid. —Preceding unsigned comment added by CupOBeans (talk • contribs)
- Hi - I nominated this page for speedy deletion. I flagged the page under the 'nonsense' tag because it's not, as the article suggests, common British usage - a search under Google UK only brings up the Alan Partridge episode you reference (and I'm a Brit who's very fond of beans). The whole article is unencyclopaedic, and appears to be written to reflect your username. Please don't take this as a personal dig; lots of people's first action on Wikipedia is to write something about themselves or their choice of username! If you did write the page to reflect your username, why not move the content to User:CupOBeans? I do hope you stay on Wikipedia and make some more edits. Squeezeweasel 17:55, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

There does not appear to be any page on Wikipedia that lists this as a criterion for flagging an article as nonsense. If you do not believe that the term is in common usage you are free to edit the article to replace the word "popular" in the first section and I will not contest this; this is not, however a valid reason for marking the article for deletion.
> The whole article is unencyclopaedic
This article is about the preparation and serving of foodstuffs. If this topic is considered unencyclopaedic then there is a long list of other articles which need to be considered for immediate removal from Wikipedia. If the language or terminology used in the article is not deemed to be of sufficient quality then you are free to mark it as such; this does not warrant removal from Wikipedia.

Your inference, while understandable, is wrong. I chose the name of the account with the express purpose of submitting this article, not the other way around.—Preceding unsigned comment added by CupOBeans (talk • contribs)
Perhaps we might add some categories to the page to get a better idea of how cup of means might relate to other things? It might help clarify how encylopedic the topic is. Labrt2004 23:04, 14 January 2007 (UTC)labrt2004
