As currently written, this - really well constructed article - is more about the "fame level" of Harry Styles that his objective "cultural impact". I think he is probably notable for his cultural impact, but it is not obvious what he has impacted (apart from being mega famous, and the lede gives nothing else). Sorry, but given well constructed the article is, it would be worth considering this further and confirming it. thanks. Aszx5000 (talk) 12:10, 19 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Using Cultural impact of Taylor Swift and Cultural impact of Coldplay as references, I don't think they are much different. Swift's article discussed similar themes; fame and stardom, tributes, commercial success (still under construction for Styles' article), social media presence, creative inspiration, fandom, and scholarly interest (under construction). The same goes for Coldplay's article; tributes, creative inspiration, touring and its sustainability, commercial success, marketing strategies, covers, and tribute projects. The article was created 12 days ago by @Bloopyfloop and it is still under construction for some sections including the 'Legacy' section and also those mentioned earlier, and hopefully more sections and content to be added soon. It is too early in my opinion to determine the notability since over 100 edits were made in the past four days only and it is clear that more content is being added. I am removing the tag till further consensus. Thank you! Medxvo (talk) 15:26, 19 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I appreciate the note - probably good to keep in mind to avoid overly fan pov/peacocking issues that are being discussed on talk pages for Taylor and Beyonce currently. But yes, the article is still very new and under construction so will need some grace period to add + edit content to get to the standard of similar pages that are rated highly.
I will definitely consider a shift from framing some content within the article as "XYZ achievement" to utilising journalistic/academic commentary of these achievements to justify cultural impact, I think that's probably the issue, but again, the article is still very new so will take some time! Appreciate any other advice/requests to come to a consensus on how to improve the article. Bloopyfloop (talk) 15:42, 19 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Find quality sources that really hone in on Styles as a cultural icon or having cultural impact. His own article has all the fame parts, so this article is really about the interesting topic of what he has objectively influenced in tastes, fashion, attitudes etc. Taylor Swift's article is drowning in references that are specifically on her as a cultural icon (people have written PhDs on it), but it is harder to discern the "cultural impact" parts of this article from "he is famous" parts. Hope that is of use. Aszx5000 (talk) 16:19, 19 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
