Cute Bertram is a rare example of an important folk artist neglected by the recording industry because of the segregation of the Old-time record and Race record markets. His importance lies in the evidence he gives that the traditional idiom was not as segregated as commonly supposed. This article links with Dick Burnett and Cumberland Gap (folk song), and should be linked to a separate article on Leonard Rutherford (yet to be created). I have read an assertion that Bertram was actually more important than Rutherford, his teacher as much as his associate. I didn't include this in the article because I don't know the evidence.DavidCrosbie (talk) 19:09, 10 August 2016 (UTC)
