Good job, this is all I was asking that someone do, attribute references to the particular comments that they support. Everything looks really good now. 74.230.210.104 12:45, 25 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why do (anonymous) users remove clearly sourced and referenced material? If you can find reputable evidence to back up your statement (doubtful, since the facts already cited are in total agreement with everything I've ever read on the subject), then we can discuss changes. Until then, the article will be restored.

Also, the origin of anything is vital for putting it in its cultural context, and the history of foods is discussed in many, many wikipedia articles. Otherwise, there's only so much you can write about any dish since recipes and personal testimonials are not allowed. Zeng8r 11:01, 2 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

History

[edit]

These origin stories and places seem to be merely the American origins of Cuban bread. The Cuban Sandwich page states the bread and sandwiches are in fact of Cuban origin, as the name would imply. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Oz Man Can (talkcontribs) 00:52, 13 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, both articles state that both modern Cuban bread and Cuban sandwiches appeared during the late 1800s / early 1900s, when Cubans flowed freely between Cuba and Florida (specifically Tampa and Key West) for work and pleasure, so their exact origins are under dispute. The Cuban bread that originated in Tampa/Ybor City is a specific variety, much more so than similar breads from Cuba, and it's discussed most extensively in this article because its history is relatively well-documented. It received the name "Cuban" bread from the Anglo community of Tampa because it was popular in the city's "Latin" quarters even though it was first baked by an Italian bakery.
Anyway, if you find reputable sources discussing Cuban bread from Cuba, feel free to add the info. Zeng8r (talk) 01:03, 13 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
