Post-Birth Section
[edit]Hello, The section written about post-birth cryptic female choice could have more detail as it is currently quite vague on why a mother would harm her offspring to prevent a mate becoming the father - even once the offspring has already been born? A little more explanation here is needed. Psych1316 (talk) 14:59, 2 February 2016 (UTC)
Fertilization Section
[edit]My mother & sister swear they recently saw something (on Facebook) about the discovery of CFC taking place at the egg-cell membrane--the egg itself "rejecting" some sperm but not others from a single insemination--my search for which led me to this article, which fails to "corroborate their story." If anyone can corroborate this--with proper references, of course--it would seem to be an appropriate addition to the article. Also, the specific mechanism, eg, molecular morphology, for this CFC "mode" should be included (if known; if unknown, something along the lines of "as of this writing, the specific mechanism for such differentiation is unknown" should be added). If this phenomenon is "unconfirmed science," i.e., has been reported but not independently verified, then that should be made clear as well, of course. Thanks!
