Applications: OLEDs, OFETs, etc.?

[edit]

I'm not a chemist or materials scientist, but it would seem to me that beside the perennial application of almost any chemical transformation to the chemical industry broadly, that Pd catalyzed cross couplings play an enormous, central, and critical role in the field of organic electronically conductive materials like the semiconducting and metallic compounds, from single "small" molecules to polymers. From what I understand, huge swaths of the published compounds used for OLEDs, solar cells, OFETs, various types of optoelectronics, etc. simply WOULD NOT EXIST or possibly even COULD NOT exist without this class of chemical reaction, or not without enormous expense. Considering how common and prominent research in this broadly defined area is/was over the last 10-15 years (there were phases where 30% or more of ALL chemistry and materials publications touched on these topics) I think this is an important addition. in essence: if you were looking for a bullet point to add to a general audience Wiki, where the value of the information as a "factoid" is actually an important consideration, then this would qualify. Certainly, the transition metal and metal oxide suppliers (eg formerly Strem) know, very well, what these compounds are used for and their websites and SEO are heavily weighted toward customers doing research or production in these areas.67.165.123.62 (talk) 11:17, 1 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
