This page is part of a Wiki series on Criticism of Religion.
Please help develop this page with a neutral point of view, presenting the phenomenon of criticism of Haredim - as well as the the counter-prospective from those who appose the critics. This is issue with enormous amount of recent coverage in the media and public sphere around the world, particularly in recent years. A useful to start with is: The construction of paradoxes in news discourse: The coverage of the Israeli Haredi community as a case in point[1]. It highlights what it perceives to be inconsistencies in the criticism in the widespread criticism in the Israeli media. There are, of course, many sources with counter views.
Examples of other pages with similar objectives include:
- Criticism of Conservative Judaism
- Criticism of Twelver Shi'ism
- Criticism of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

- Sorry. I moved it before looking at the talk page. I can't unmove it. I would, however, like to point out that while a lot of the criticism is directed to the Haredim as a people, ultimately criticism of Haredim as a people and direct criticism of Haredi Judaism are both criticism of Haredi Judaism. It also fits the pattern of Criticism of Islam, Criticism of Judaism, Criticism of Christianity, Criticism of Hinduism, Criticism of Buddhism. Of course criticism of a religious group as a people is more than just mere criticism but also bigotry. Move undone, but need for expansion
[edit]Bostonnine is a now-blocked user who attempted to initiate a move of Haredi Judaism back to its erstwhile title Ultra-Orthodox Judaism. This same user moved this page to Criticism of Ultra-Orthodox Judaism, which went unnoticed. I have undone the move it was obviously controversial and didn't go through the processes of WP:RM.
The article itself should ideally be merged rather than float like a POV fork (see WP:NOCRIT). It has some scope for expansion, but not with singular events (e.g. people making a fuss on aeroplane flights). Rather, I would imagine that someone has reported on the issue of anti-Haredism in a systematic fashion. JFW | T@lk 11:16, 29 November 2015 (UTC)
Merge
[edit]I think this can safely be merged with Haredi Judaism, as did the IP editor who first tagged this article with a merge template.
The article is very small, and can be a section there. In addition, Haredi is a denomination in Judaism, and I noticed in Category:Criticism of religion that we don't have article on denominations, just the religions themselves. Debresser (talk) 13:38, 30 December 2015 (UTC)
The discussion is at Talk:Haredi Judaism#Merge in Criticism of Haredi Judaism. Debresser (talk) 13:41, 30 December 2015 (UTC)
