Copyright violation
[edit]I had to replace the page with an old version because the new text was copied directly from [1][2][3] at Cristo Rey's website. Wikipedia isn't permitted to use the text of Cristo Rey's website, because it's copyrighted by default (even if it doesn't have a © symbol). Cristo Rey Jesuit High School Book
[edit]I was wondering if anyone has taken a look at the Book? I know the high school has some background history and was hoping to use it to expand this page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jjn24 (talk • contribs) 16:43, 11 February 2015 (UTC)
Please explain each revert
[edit]I have included the pre- and post-nominals in the infobox since they are simple means of identifying that the person is under obedience to religious superiors, and therefore the school was founded under religious auspices. Also, when I added independent refs you removed them. And the claims in the article are established by the host of credible references; be more distinguishing about what you see as an excessive claim in need a special citation. - A publication of the Catholic Church is not an independent source on this article any more than the local school board would be for a school, General Motors for Buick, or the Bible for the existence of Jesus. And I'm not going to reargue the title and post nominal thing. It isn't up to me to convince you they should be out. Rather, you, the one who wants the content changed, needs to convince me and anyone else interested that it should be in. Your "shorthand" argument is not compelling. I'm telling you up-front I will not be responding to your TLDR time sink. Either learn to express yourself succinctly, or go waste somebody else's time. Cite the policy you are basing your argument on and make the argument in 100 words or less. The purpose of an encyclopedia is to summarize what sources say. If you cannot express your own thoughts succinctly, how can you summarize someone else's? John from Idegon (talk) 16:50, 7 March 2018 (UTC)
- Independent sources are not required for minor claims like this unless there is some reason to doubt the veracity of the source given: what is your reason for doing so. And it is precisely to succinctly indicate the origin of the school that the pre- and post-nominals are used. Jzsj (talk) 18:20, 7 March 2018 (UTC)
- That's hogwash. Pre-nominals (e.g., Fr., Br., Sr., Prof.) are honorifics that say nothing whatsoever about the schools' administration. Post-nominals indicate the affiliation of the person to whom they're attached, not the school. It's perfectly possible for a Dominican to serve at a Jesuit school. 32.218.36.14 (talk) 18:27, 7 March 2018 (UTC)
- I removed your source requesting an independent source not for the post nominal and title garbage, but for the fact it was placed next to. Since an overt statement that the school is purposed to serve a single ethnic group is a highly extraordinary claim (since that would be in violation of numerous civil rights laws), extraordinary sources are definitely required.
