Captain Nemo and Crete

[edit]

The "Reference in fiction" section mentions that in Jules Verne's book "20,000 Leagues under the Sea", "Captain Nemo is mentioned as using his submarine "Nautilus" to provide munitions to the rebels." In fact, Captain Nemo gave the rebels a chest containing "4,000 lbs weight of gold", part of the treasures he had salvaged from sunken ships. Doubtless the gold was (in Verne's mind) meant mainly for purchasing weapons and munitions, but it is still not the same as giving actual munitions, of which Nemo would have neither a great store or any great need.--Death Bredon (talk) 16:27, 27 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks for your contribution. Did it mention which year Captain Nemo did this? (Might be interesting even though it's fiction.  Nipsonanomhmata  (Talk) 16:50, 27 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
