Australia rumour
[edit]Wikipedia is not the place for unsourced and unsubstatiated rumour, especially coming from an IP with such a limited editing history. If someone can come up with a credible news report from ANYWHERE that backs this up, then fine, but until then it shouldn't be on the page. Nick Cooper 07:53, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
PhD/MPhil
[edit]This is almost certainly inaccurate. The MPhil is a one-year coursework degree, and not a degree which would be awarded to a failed PhD candidate - unless at many other UK universities (the Cambridge equivalent would be MLitt). Ncox 01:48, 7 August 2007 (UTC) I see an earlier edition of the entry has a more accurate account, which I will reinstate.Ncox 01:50, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
- At my University (York), it is possible for a DPhil candidate to be awarded an MPhil as a "consolation prize"; it is also possible for an MPhil registrant to "upgrade" to a DPhil. --Rodhullandemu (please reply here - contribs) 14:10, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
Incorrect statements regarding department
[edit]There is a consistent mess throughout many articles related to the subject confusing Specialist Operations and Specialist Crime and Operations - despite the near-identical names they are two separate entities - see the Metropolitan Police website for more[1]. I have begun to re-write/edit to fix these issues and update the relevant pages. --ReaverMan (talk) 10:45, 7 October 2015 (UTC)
Should the highlight box thing on the right be updated with her new career?
[edit]She has transferred to an unspecified Director-General Level posting with the FCO - should this be included in the box thinghy on the right of the page? There is currently no other information regarding her posting available in the public domain, so the only details would be the title of the job.
My personal preference would be to include it, as currently at a glance the box misleads users into thinking she has retired after leaving the police force; although the opening lines of the main text do mention her current job.
Also; for my own future reference, is there a proper name for the box thing?? ReaverMan (talk) 11:35, 7 October 2015 (UTC)

Oxford days
[edit]What did she study at Oxford? 86.184.52.111 (talk) 10:26, 19 December 2017 (UTC)
Agriculture. But she did badly. 2A00:23C5:C10B:A300:489B:EDA7:920:8024 (talk) 09:38, 15 February 2019 (UTC)
I think the date given for her Oxford degree (1979) was actually matriculation rather than when she got her BA. If she graduated in 1979 she would have been only 18, the school-leaving age in England. In their bulletins, Oxbridge colleges tend to quote the year a student matriculated (i.e. became a member of college) along with the student's name, rather than the graduation year, and I note that the reference is to the Balliol College magazine (though the link doesn't work)
On a radio programme she said she went up to Oxford to read biology, but that got too difficult, so she ended up doing agriculture. 2A00:23C5:C13C:9F00:6042:125C:57B3:8D48 (talk) 20:09, 10 February 2022 (UTC)
Prejucided content?
[edit]"the unlawful summary execution" "from which the inquest jury incorrectly exonerated her"
These do not seem to fit the tone I would expect of a wikipedia article, clearly opinion rather than fact, especially the use of the word "incorrectly" in the second quote
