Updates ?
[edit]After more than 10 years, i could not find any up to date photos one their website, or anywhere else. Not even a kind of 'report' how the project is going. I'd expect at least some interesting picture-of-the-year snapshots, and maybe first observations about growth, or interaction with the local fauna. It strikes me weird. Somebody knows more ? 78.48.9.130 (talk) 12:15, 23 April 2015 (UTC)
- A botanist friend asked Hanks by email and he could not come up with anything. I suspect the whole project to be dubious, at least. --Rosetta — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.134.158.228 (talk) 23:15, 30 August 2016 (UTC)
Try emailing the guy through the website. I mentioned this when I contacted him about my tree. His ex girlfriend designed the website and he has no way to update the info. My understanding is that he is setting up a Facebook page to address updates, contact, etc. until he can find someone to sort everything out and regain access. --LeeDawson (talk) 15:46, 6 September 2016 (UTC)Lee D.
- @LeeDawson: It doesnt seem to meet the notability guidelines though, as there are no reliable secondary sources that discuss the project.--Kevmin § 15:57, 6 September 2016 (UTC)
Both Stokes and Surrey Counties claim the project in their Chambers of Commerce. They apparently know something that someone on here does not. I find it suspicious, that the flag was posted by someone without a registered sig, at the exact time that he's running for public office. Looks like an attempted smear campaign to me. Why would someone wait ten years and then say it looks "dubious"? Seriously, that's stupid. The Chinese counterpart to all of this, Dr. Jinshuang Ma, at metasequoia.org is fully aware of this project, and is hoping to set up a metasequoia museum that combines notes, fossils and anything redwood-related. Again, I think this is a calculated political attack, and I think it is shameful. --LeeDawson (talk) 16:29, 6 September 2016 (UTC)Lee D.
- Do you have links to the Chamber of Chambers of Commerce records that show that though? WP:notability and WP:reference rules need to be met, and currently the article here does not. The chambers are not used as references currently. Also keep wp:civil with the talk page comments, and avoid asserting conspiracy unless you have backing evidence.--Kevmin § 00:37, 7 September 2016 (UTC)
- Also, do you have a relation to the CRDRP? Please keep in mind the wiki policies on WP:Single purpose accounts--Kevmin § 00:46, 7 September 2016 (UTC)
Delete?
[edit]I'm tempted to put this up for deletion, as there do not seem to be any reliable sources that this venture exists. Thoughts?--Kevmin § 00:14, 31 August 2016 (UTC)
- Why don't you assign someone in NC to meet up at the location, in person, and let you know how many trees are in existence? Would your guy be a reliable source? --LeeDawson (talk) 17:02, 6 September 2016 (UTC)Lee D.
- That would not meet any Wikipedia venerability guidelines. As I posted, there are no WP:secondary sources that talk about this plantation.--Kevmin § 00:39, 7 September 2016 (UTC)
