Reference #3 "Understanding Your Credit Report and Credit Score" under the Canada section is a dead link, it should be updated with the new correct one. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.117.174.58 (talk) 14:12, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

Score Interpretation

The “Score Interpretation” section ended with this sentence:

Eventually, credit scoring systems may simply no longer be reliable to the public because of conflicting information and the "stacking of the deck" of the process in the favor of lenders and to the detriment of borrowers, unless legislation restricting "score fiddling" behavior is passed.

I have only the vaguest idea what it means. I understand it to mean, approximately, that credit scoring systems may not be reliable indicators of credit worthiness (which is not really that informative); all the other words are pretty much information-free. How can you “stack the deck”? Lenders need the score to be accurate, as do borrowers. What is “score fiddling”? When is “eventually”? Are the systems reliable now (the “no longer” would suggest they are). And after all that, there are nine citations. The first “citation” is a link to an on-line forum with a few anecdotes (none of which are mentioned in the section). The second is even worse—a link to a question. similar, which smacks of original research. Strangely enough, the fourth is a link to a page about “Wikipedia's errors regarding credit scores”; I like Gödel too, but this is silly. The sixth is again a forum with an anecdote and a question. The last would be a very nice citation, except that is perfectly irrelevant to the entire paragraph. Although I have no love for credit rating agencies, this looks to me like an obvious example of “sticking it to The Man”, barely justified with “original research” and a bit of citation flood. It’s also nonsensical (see my first sentence after the quote above). I’m removing everything I describe as objectionable above. bogdanb (talk) 17:39, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

credit score scale for usa credit

someone put this data in the article please/ An Excellent Credit Score: 800 and above

A Very Good Credit Score: 700 – 799A great range to be in. It is achievable and actually 27% of the United States population belongs to this credit score range.

A Good Credit Score: 680 – 700– your long term savings will be noticeable. This is pretty much the average credit score.

An OK or Fair Credit Score: 620 -679

A Poor Credit Score: 580 – 619 You need to start paying attention to your budgeting and finances. Start by reading this guide.

A Bad Credit Score: 500 – 579 You can get a loan but nothing even close to what you expect it to be.

A Very Bad Credit Score: 499 and Lower

here is the reference: http://www.adjustcredit.com/fico-credit-scores-ranges-meanings/ it has a picture pie chart for scores that is interesting. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gawdsmak (talkcontribs) 08:28, 2 February 2011 (UTC)

Absolutely not! Aside from the information, that site is spam, both for the glaring advertisements and especially for leaving messages when you try to leave the site! — — Joe Kress (talk) 19:07, 2 February 2011 (UTC)

I agree with Gawdsmak, I think that adding that information to the article would improve it. I found this reference: http://creditkay.com/understanding-the-credit-score-range/ It provides the same usefull information and it complies better with wikipedia standars, it has no advertising — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lynnette25 (talkcontribs) 23:39, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

That's not a reference; please see WP:RS. Kuru (talk) 01:53, 10 December 2011 (UTC)

Moved US specific info

I have moved the US specific information from the main body of the article into the appropriate regional section. This section may now need some reorganisation by someone who knows about the credit scoring issues that are limited to the US86.140.5.33 (talk) 16:37, 29 December 2011 (UTC)
