this article needs a major rewrite

why is it titled PCV valve when the significant topic is the principle and application of PCV itself? the valve is only a small part of the entire system. there's no dedicated entry for PCV - i propose the article is renamed Positive Crankcase Ventilation and heavily rewritten with direct references and the mistakes corrected. i'm happy to do it but won't have the time for a week or two.

it also needs mention of PCV replacement - practiced by most, if not all, performance engine tuners - whereby the PCV system is substituted with an oil catch can and usually a breather filter venting crankcase gases to atmosphere instead of recirculating via the intake. - ALLOCKE|talk 06:07, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Quite right. I've begun the revamp. It will take some more doing to be finished. I don't know whether I'll finish it right now, but I'll at least take it from sucking to decent. — ¾-10 17:31, 26 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Aditional information added regarding forced induction applications

After having PCV issues with my personal car I have added some information regarding the additional function of PCV valves and the system as a whole in boosted cars. I have also briefly touched on the scavenging effect and how ideally a PCV system would keep the crankcase under slight negative pressure.
