I believe this article needs to be merged with

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smith_and_Mabley

as they were the same companies, although it should be noted that the Mercedes Simplex is a completely unrelated automobile.Jonathan Versen 17:59, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Simplex roller chain

[edit]

is this the originating company ? or is it to do with simplex geometry ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.96.92.241 (talk) 15:33, 24 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Crane-Simplex or Simplex Crane?

[edit]

Maybe the correct name for this make is Simplex Crane instead of Crane-Simplex. The majority of sources I find say "Simplex-Crane" or "Simplex Crane". The Louwman Museum in the Netherlands spells the name without a hyphen, as do Hyman Ltd and, perhaps most importantly, the National Museum of American History. Also note the emblem states "Simplex" at the top, with "Crane" below it. And note this page at Bonhams, which explicitly says Crane-Simplex is incorrect. What is this article supposed to be about?

[edit]

This article is very difficult to follow. The lead says the Simplex Crane Model 5 was commonly called the "Crane-Simplex" and made from 1915-1918, then mentions the Crane-Simplex Company being formed in 1922, and the infobox only gives 1922-23. The first section is about the Crane-Simplex Company of 1922, but the next section is about a predecessor company. The section is titled "Simplex Crane Model 5" but begins with three paragraphs about the predecessor company and other cars. The article looked like this before it was more than tripled in size; I can't make enough sense of it now to know what to do with it. --Sable232 (talk) 01:15, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
