Article name
[edit]Looking at the school website, I think this article should be renamed Cranbrook School, Kent. The comma would indicate that Kent is not part of the school name, merely a geographical description to distinguish this school from other Cranbrook Schools, elsewhere. Any objections, anybody? Far too Detailed
[edit]Well having gone to the school recently, it seems that someone has taken it upon themselves to include the entire boarders routine and a massive advert for the school. Most of it is ridiculous nonsense that I'm sure the current head either commissioned, or is identical to whats on the main website for CS. It really isn't needed in an encyclopedia.
- I agree that too much detail is included, as if from a marketing brochure. Will edit more.--Parkwells (talk) 17:45, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
Completly agree
[edit]Someone needs to go through and prune all the rubbish that has quite clearly been copied from the schools website. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Thecyberwasp (talk • contribs) 22:43, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
Cleanup
[edit]Have carried out an initial phase of editing, both to reduce the amount of text copied from the website, and to make the history section more manageable to read. Agree with others above, quite a lot of irrelevant info to sift through and still some way to go, but should finish it later this week. Also hoping to add the schools infobox and will obviously remove the cleanup tag once complete. Cheers --Fishingcat 02:28, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
Unusual usage
[edit]In para 1.1 the word 'exempted' is used in an unusual or perhaps incorrect sense. Would 'excepted' be better? GilesW (talk) 20:28, 26 November 2008 (UTC)
- Used "excluded".--Parkwells (talk) 17:46, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
Template
[edit]Something is causing the {{Cranbrook}} template not to display properly on this page. It's working fine on all the others. If anyone can fix this, please do so. Mjroots (talk) 18:24, 14 November 2010 (UTC)

Jacqueline Winspear
[edit]I doubt that Jacqueline Winspear attended the school as she was born in 1955 and the school did not go co-ed until 1974, by which time she would have left school. Dhe deginitely was not a pupil 1964-1971, which was when I was a pupil! I think she attended the Mary Sheafe School in Cranbrook and that my late mother taught her. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.7.24.35 (talk) 18:42, 6 November 2019 (UTC)
Jacqueline Winspear attended Cranbrook School's 6th form from 1971 to 1973, and was among 8 girls who had previously attended The Mary Sheafe School, also in Cranbrook. 1971 was the year the school began taking girls as part of a mandatory co-ed programme - it was a voluntary-aided school and therefore had to fall in line with government requirements to move toward co-education, rather than continuing as a single-sex school. Please also note Peter Rowe's obituary in The Lynx, 2020, referring to the first girls arriving at Cranbrook in 1971. I believe 1974 was the year girls were enrolled in earlier year groups, therefore the school was considered more fully co-ed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2603:8000:FE43:C7F0:614C:DE75:526A:8622 (talk) 22:49, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
