• Lead: you talk about "The crop" before you actually say (in para 2) that it is a valuable crop; and the term itself should be linked.

• "currently both theories are generally accepted." Since one is West and one is East, this can't be true.
  • When I first started writing this the West African center of origin theory was pretty much excepted. The East African one is now becoming more popular (there was also a Southern African one proposed once, but it has gained no traction at all, and the Indian one is pretty much dismissed by everyone). I guess the point is that no one knows for sure and both currently seem to have equal weight in the literature. Changed it say that now. Could remove it without losing mch if that is still confusing.

• "A common snack in Africa ... In Africa ..." Perhaps the 2nd one should be "In other parts of Africa" or something of that sort.
  • They are the same parts of Africa. Have reworded slightly

• Pests: please wikilink pod sucking bugs (at least to Hemiptera, ideally a bit more specifically), thrips.
  • There are about five main types and most don't seem to have an article to link to. Relative to the Maruca and weevil they are minor pests so didn't want to go into too much detail. They also seem to cover a large range so Hemiptera is probably the best we have.

• Pests: no need to gloss M. vitrata "The legume pod borer", "the Maruca pod borer" more than once.<
  • Fixed, same with Callosobruchus maculatus. Left both names in the image captions though.

• Pests: please wikilink "cry protein" - actually, it'd be better to say Delta endotoxin which is the actual link target, you could say (cry protein) after that if you like.
  • Generally use visual editor to link and did not realise that cry toxin went to Bt. Changed that redirect to point to Delta endotoxin

• "The plant is susceptible to mosaic viruses, which is characterised by a green mosaic pattern in the leaves." The infected plant is so characterised, not the viruses.

• Wikilink Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations; no need for acronym FAO here really.

• "The bruchid" - I think this is actually unhelpful here. Perhaps "The beetle (a bruchid)".
  • Changed to weevil and linked Bean weevil (which is where Bruchid redirects)

• "(CPMV) was first discovered in 1959 and since then it has become an important biological tool in scientific research." Could better be "(CPMV), discovered in 1959, has become a useful research tool."

• Image caption "Maruca vitrata, commonly called the maruca pod borer, is one of the most damaging insect pests to the cowpea plant." Should probably say it's a moth, and that the borer is the larva.

• Culinary: perhaps wikilink casserole, curry, slave.
  • Linked slave trade in history section and not really a big fan of linking too much.

• Production: there's a citation needed in para 2.
  • I wrote a lot of this many years ago while I was at uni and that cite must have been lost when I moved things over here. Will look back over my offline notes.
  • Couldn't find my old notes, but an existing citation says "under conditions of subsistence farming the average dry yield normally ranges between 100-300 kg/ha". I think this should cover that. AIRcorn (talk) 10:27, 25 April 2017 (UTC)

• Reference formats: please decide if you're using punctuated and spaced (Doe, J. K.), punctuated but unspaced (Doe J.K.), or unpunctuated (Doe, JK) initials of authors, and use that all the way through. It looks as if you've mostly used the first of these.
  • I think I have got all these. Some refs still use the full name instead of initials, but I am hoping that is alright. Formatting refs is one of my least favourite things to do on here (hence why I love visual editor). AIRcorn (talk) 10:27, 25 April 2017 (UTC)

I've punctuated a few more.

• Ref dates: problem in ref 20.

• Ref 63 says Steele, et al. 1985 but this doesn't go anywhere. Please fill in the missing fields and format the ref like the rest.
  • This is a statement that was in here before I started editing. I missed it when rechecking. Will try and find the full citation and check it is correctly used.
  • I believe the cite is: Steele, W.M., Allen, D.J. and Summerfield, R.J. (1985) Cowpea (Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp, in Grain Legume Crops, (eds R.J. Summerfield and E.H. Roberts), Collins, London. I cannot access this book at the moment so I am hesitant to use it. It was present in this version[1] and appears to be a direct copy from this paper. The paper seems to contradict some things I have read in other journals and know personally so I am not sure if it is trustworthy. I am considering removing it. • Units: the article starts out by converting various metric units to Imperial, but then gives many measurements in hectares, etc, without conversions. Either do everything in metric, or give conversions for everything.
  • Standardised most with the convert template. Not keen to do the nutritional infobox though. AIRcorn (talk) 09:37, 22 April 2017 (UTC)

Summary
