there's an awful lot of correspondence in the Times in 1856 regarding the fact that the West Riding of Yorkshire had yet to establish a rural police force. a report on October 27, 1856, notes that it finally voluntarily did it slightly before this Act came into force. the times doesn't seem terrible useful as a way of dating the various creations of rural police forces.
